Episode 1 recap: He Zhi Nan and Qu Yi Peng's Encounter

In the first episode, He Zhi Nan wakes up, realizing she's almost late for work. She quickly gets ready and rushes to the office, just managing to arrive on time and avoid the embarrassment of being late. Once at her desk, she indulges in a snack, only to overhear her coworkers buzzing about the arrival of the new manager, Qu Yi Peng.

Everyone is saying he's incredibly handsome and has a gentle personality, making him the dream guy for many women. He Zhi Nan is skeptical and mutters, "How handsome can he really be?" Just then, a colleague mentions that even the company's rising star, J, has taken a liking to him. Almost immediately, J walks into the office and tells everyone to focus on their work.

While He Zhi Nan is torn between blueberry and lemon candy, Qu Yi Peng unexpectedly appears and casually answers her question about which flavor is better: "Blueberry is nice." After their brief exchange, He Zhi Nan tries to help him find a seat for a lecture, but J has already taken him away.

Meanwhile, He Zhi Nan’s friend, Sun Han Han, is stressed about her upcoming wedding, which is marred by conflicts with her fiancé. He wants to save money by using fake flowers for the wedding and even threatens that if she's not willing to marry, he won't go through with it. This makes He Zhi Nan reflect on her own long-distance relationship with Gao Peng, which has lasted seven years. Sun Han Han reassures her that long-distance relationships can have their perks, but He Zhi Nan wryly admits she’s just holding on to sweet memories to fend off the passage of time.

As they continue chatting, He Zhi Nan gets up to grab a snack and accidentally runs into Qu Yi Peng, but she only dares to observe him from a distance. When Sun Han Han questions her behavior, He Zhi Nan admits to feeling socially anxious and that she doesn’t know Qu Yi Peng well. Sun Han Han then shares a funny story about a missed opportunity with a "quality guy" at a high-end gym, and they both laugh.

During lunch, He Zhi Nan and Qu Yi Peng end up sharing a table due to a shortage of seats. When it comes time to pay, He Zhi Nan suggests they split the bill, but Qu Yi Peng finds it cumbersome and offers to transfer her share later, generously saying he’ll treat her. They exchange WeChat contacts, and later, He Zhi Nan asks Sun Han Han for advice on how to send a cute yet appropriate red envelope. In the end, she simply sends a "Thank you," and Qu Yi Peng replies with a fun emoji, making the atmosphere light and enjoyable.

On the other side, Qu Yi Peng is patiently waiting for his girlfriend, Han Su, to come home but eventually falls asleep. When she arrives, he warms up food for her, showing his thoughtfulness. Han Su then urges Qu Yi Peng to finish an article he’s working on, hoping it will get noticed. Despite the late hour, she insists on keeping him company until she becomes too tired and heads off to wash up. When she returns, she finds Qu Yi Peng fast asleep, so she stays up late to finish the article. The next day, Qu Yi Peng advises her to take a break, but Han Su insists on attending an important meeting, leaving him with a sense of helplessness.

At a gathering one day, the single Xu Ying drunkenly reveals her regrets about Gao Peng’s changed circumstances, lamenting that she didn’t accept his advances back then. While He Zhi Nan and the others outwardly comfort her, they privately gossip. After Xu Ying leaves, He Zhi Nan overhears some girls discussing Gao Peng's past pursuits and the missed opportunities due to ignorance about his family background, leaving her feeling mixed emotions and in tears.

Not long after, the company hosts an event, and when Qu Yi Peng realizes he forgot to confirm his attendance, he quickly asks He Zhi Nan for help. When she tells him the registration is full, she easily reassures him, promising to bring him in the next day. Grateful, Qu Yi Peng finds that their relationship has quietly grown closer.
