Episode 5 recap: Qu Yi Peng and He Zhi Nan's Date
In Episode 5, Han Su returns home with a lot of groceries and prepares a feast. When Qu Yi Peng arrives, he’s surprised to see the table full of food and asks Han Su what special occasion prompted her to cook so much. Han Su tells him to wash his hands and sit down to try her cooking.However, when Qu Yi Peng enters the bedroom, he notices two large suitcases neatly packed, which dampens his mood. Still, he sits down nonchalantly. Han Su then reveals that she might be going to Hong Kong. She explains that she was supposed to send Shan Jie, but due to last-minute issues, she’s going instead. Qu Yi Peng asks about her salary, and Han Su mentions it has doubled, asking if he supports her decision.
Qu Yi Peng responds that a salary increase is great news, so he doesn’t see why he wouldn’t support her. Han Su then raises the question of what he will do if she leaves. Qu Yi Peng reassures her that he’ll be fine, but he expresses concern about the rent, noting that it might be too much for one person to bear. They have a one-year lease, and breaking it would likely incur extra fees.
Hearing this, Han Su feels disheartened, realizing that Qu Yi Peng is more worried about financial issues than their relationship. She mentions she can come back often, but Qu Yi Peng suggests they can just keep in touch via WeChat. His words make Han Su teary-eyed.
After dinner, Han Su starts tidying up her remaining things, and Qu Yi Peng suggests putting her winter clothes in the wardrobe. She brushes it off, and he questions if she’s cleaning up now to leave for good. A heavy silence falls between them, and Qu Yi Peng sits in front of the computer, staring at the screen.
Han Su pulls out the shoes Qu Yi Peng bought, and he asks why she isn’t taking them with her. She explains she bought another pair just a few days ago during her lunch break when she saw a pair she liked. Han Su insists that the new shoes, which she hasn’t worn, should be returned, confirming she checked and it’s possible. She asks Qu Yi Peng if he still has the receipt, and he confirms he does. She nods and leaves.
The next day, after seeing Han Su off, Qu Yi Peng messages He Zhi Nan on WeChat to ask where she is, only to find he’s still blocked. Determined, he decides to take action and heads to He Zhi Nan’s building, where he sees her being picked up by a driver.
He became even more convinced that He Zhi Nan was a wealthy young lady, unaware that it was her colleague who had invited her to leave with him. Qu Yi Peng followed He Zhi Nan to the supermarket, deliberately creating a chance encounter, but she was annoyed and walked away. He Zhi Nan confronted him, saying he had a girlfriend yet was still looking for her. Qu Yi Peng replied that he had broken up.
He then invited He Zhi Nan to have tiramisu together, and she asked why he had broken up. Qu Yi Peng confessed that he had developed feelings for her. He Zhi Nan questioned why he liked her, mentioning that his ex-girlfriend was said to be very beautiful. Qu Yi Peng acknowledged that she was, but he found He Zhi Nan to be adorable.
Hearing him say "adorable" made He Zhi Nan instantly angry, as she knew that wasn’t true affection. Qu Yi Peng, confused about how he had upset her again, hurried to catch up and explain. However, He Zhi Nan wouldn’t listen and continued walking briskly. In a moment of impulse, Qu Yi Peng picked her up and kissed her.
Surprisingly, He Zhi Nan wasn’t angry anymore, and the two kissed in the street. Afterward, Qu Yi Peng walked her downstairs, and she asked if he wanted to come up for tea. Qu Yi Peng replied that things were moving too fast, and he wanted to savor this beautiful moment.
This act earned Qu Yi Peng even more points in He Zhi Nan’s heart. Later, she visited Sun Han Han’s scarf exhibition, mentioning she would take a photo to send to Qu Yi Peng. Sun Han Han jokingly asked when Qu Yi Peng had become part of her family, to which He Zhi Nan confidently replied that it would happen eventually.
While they were chatting, Sun Han Han received a text from Zhou Bin asking to meet up, along with a scarf he had sent to her office. Sun Han Han decided to return the scarf to Zhou Bin, telling him not to contact her again. Zhou Bin confessed that he had divorced Zeng Cheng and showed her the divorce certificate.
Sun Han Han forgave him, and they ended up having a meal together. Meanwhile, Han Su arrived in Hong Kong and reached out to her college classmate Alex, who mentioned that his friend Gao Peng had just broken up and he wanted to introduce him to Han Su. Downstairs, Qu Yi Peng ran into the cleaning lady, who asked about his beautiful girlfriend. Fearing that things might get complicated, Qu Yi Peng decided to report her.
