Episode 9 recap: Zhou Bin's Constant Deceit Towards Sun Han Han
In Episode 9, Sun Han Han accidentally sees a photo of Zhou Bin and Zeng Cheng together, which makes her extremely angry. She storms into Zhou Bin's office to confront him. She questions why he’s being so intimate with Zeng Cheng in public while their relationship has to be kept a secret.
Sun Han Han feels like a hidden lover, and after she vents her frustrations, Zhou Bin begins to explain that the photo was taken to thank Zeng Cheng for introducing a business partner. He intended to clarify things to Zeng Cheng afterward, but Sun Han Han's outburst came first.
As he speaks, Zhou Bin shows her a picture of his injured wrist on his phone, trying to elicit sympathy. Seeing the photo calms Sun Han Han down significantly, and Zhou Bin seizes the moment to play the victim, saying he thought she would understand, but now realizes he was mistaken.
Realizing her impulsiveness, Sun Han Han quickly tries to comfort Zhou Bin. Soon, a colleague reminds her that she has a meeting with Zeng Cheng, prompting her to rush to touch up her makeup before heading to the meeting.
During the meeting, she notices the bandage on Zeng Cheng's arm and, recalling Zhou Bin's words, feels a mix of emotions. When it’s her turn to speak, she bluntly points out that the topics being discussed are overly pretentious and stale, which, while honest, comes off as slightly offensive.
After the meeting, Sun Han Han takes the initiative to ask Zeng Cheng to sign off on some documents and apologizes for her inappropriate comments. Zeng Cheng graciously says he doesn't mind and appreciates her unique insights.
Seizing the opportunity, Sun Han Han inquires about Zeng Cheng's injury. She learns it was caused by a fall while renovating his new apartment, which contradicts Zhou Bin's explanation. However, she doesn’t confront him and simply expresses her concern. Zeng Cheng reassures her that the injury is minor and that he remains fully committed to his work.
On the other hand, Zhou Bin is immersed in the world of music when Zeng Cheng suddenly arrives, showing him the renovation plans for her new home. She expresses her desire for a children's room and reveals her wish to have a baby. Zhou Bin is surprised and reminds her that she previously mentioned wanting to remain child-free, noting how quickly her attitude has changed. Zeng Cheng firmly states that this time she genuinely wants a child and invites Zhou Bin to accompany her for a health check-up next week.
Though taken aback, Zhou Bin chooses to support her decision.
Meanwhile, Qu Yi Peng invites He Zhi Nan and Sun Han Han to dinner. During the meal, Qu Yi Peng shows a strong interest in Sun Han Han and asks if he can take her on a date, aiming to find out more about He Zhi Nan's ex-boyfriend, Gao Peng. Sun Han Han admits that she is not very familiar with Gao Peng, only having had occasional interactions.
After dinner, He Zhi Nan asks Sun Han Han what she thinks of Qu Yi Peng. Sun Han Han gives a positive assessment and reveals Qu Yi Peng's curiosity about Gao Peng.
Over the weekend, He Zhi Nan and Qu Yi Peng go on a trip to an ancient town, taking photos together and setting a picture as their wallpaper, showcasing their sweetness. Han Su learns of this news and decides to go home to see Qu Yi Peng one last time, as she has just gone through a breakup. She confides in Zhong Shu, who offers comfort with a bit of life philosophy.
When Han Su sees Qu Yi Peng's phone wallpaper and receives a call from He Zhi Nan, she realizes everything. She candidly states that she always knew about their relationship and expresses her belief in Qu Yi Peng's love, while also understanding his rationality and decisiveness.
This series of events further complicates the relationships among Sun Han Han, Zhou Bin, Zeng Cheng, He Zhi Nan, Qu Yi Peng, and Han Su, as each person seeks a balance between emotions and reason, learning to grow and let go.
