Episode 22 recap: Jin Mu Qiu Defends Lin Feng Publicly
In Episode 22, Qu Zheng patiently teaches various martial arts to Bai Wan. As they learn, there are moments of physical interaction that make Bai Wan feel shy, while Qu Zheng remains focused and serious in his teaching. Meanwhile, Qing Yun watches them from a distance, growing increasingly jealous and dissatisfied with Qu Zheng.
On the other hand, Jin Mu Qiu is deeply concerned for Lin Feng's safety and is anxious to help. Seeing her distress, Su Zhuo Zhuo teams up with Song Jian Shan to cleverly divert the guards' attention, allowing Jin Mu Qiu to enter Lin Feng's residence. Gathering her courage, she confesses her feelings to Lin Feng and proposes that they face their challenges together and find a solution to their martial arts dilemma.
However, she is shocked to find that the valley master and his wife are also present, leading to an embarrassing situation that leaves her feeling humiliated. The valley master’s wife accuses her of breaking their agreement by secretly meeting with Lin Feng, forcing Jin Mu Qiu to flee in haste. Lin Feng tries to follow her but is stopped by his mother. In their heated exchange, Lin Feng stands firm in his resolve to protect Jin Mu Qiu and insists on resolving the martial arts issue.
Back at her place, Jin Mu Qiu feels despondent, reminiscing about her past with Lin Feng. Suddenly, there's a knock on the door. Expecting it to be Lin Feng, she opens it to find a book merchant instead. The merchant proposes to profit from Jin Mu Qiu's story by hosting a book club and threatens her with a contract. Although reluctant, she feels she has no choice but to agree.
At the book club, Jin Mu Qiu's identity is unexpectedly revealed. Seizing the opportunity, she clarifies misunderstandings about Lin Feng, a scene witnessed by Lin Feng from a distance. During the signing event, Lin Feng cleverly arranges for a little girl to bring his signed book to Jin Mu Qiu for her autograph, a gesture that deeply moves her.
Meanwhile, Qing Yun's attempts to sway Bai Wan have been unsuccessful, as Bai Wan fully trusts Qu Zheng. During the Martial Lake Conference, although private dueling is prohibited, tension simmers between Qing Yun and Qu Zheng, with both secretly threatening each other, vowing to settle their differences in the arena. Bai Wan unwittingly becomes embroiled in this conflict and loses his chance to compete due to false accusations of private fighting, a scheme orchestrated by Qu Zheng and Qing Yun.
Though shocked, Bai Wan understands Qu Zheng's intentions, believing he can help him obtain the Ling Yao grass. Qu Zheng lives up to expectations, advancing decisively to the finals, where his opponent is Qing Yun. On the eve of their showdown, Qing Yun makes a promise to Bai Wan to secure the Ling Yao grass, revealing that one of them must fall.
Bai Wan cares for Qu Zheng's safety but recognizes his own position; he hopes for Qu Zheng's well-being. Qu Zheng encourages Bai Wan to have faith in him, assuring him that he will handle everything. Qing Yun, seeking to enhance his strength, trains day and night. Zi Jing, concerned, warns him to be cautious with the mysterious martial arts technique, but Qing Yun has already discerned that it is part of the Pu Yuan Zhen Jing. He is eager to harness its power, dreaming of defeating Qu Zheng if he can master it completely.
Finally, the climactic battle between Qu Zheng and Qing Yun arrives, intertwining Bai Wan's fate with theirs. This fight is not just a contest of martial skills, but also a test of belief and emotion. Bai Wan silently prays for a satisfying resolution to it all.
