Episode 25 recap: A Million Alone in the Ninefold Abyss
In Episode 25, Qu Zheng reveals his past to Jin Mu Qiu and Su Zhuo Zhuo, confessing how he was deceived by Jing Yuan into committing terrible acts. They understand that Qu Zheng wounded a million to help her atone for her sins, but she struggles to accept this. Overcome with emotion, she cries as if she might faint at any moment.
Song Jian Shan goes to bring medicine to Qu Zheng, but finds him missing from his room. Remembering her earlier question about whether Jing Yuan would really harm Qu Zheng, she realizes that Qu Zheng feels he won't have another chance. Sensing something is wrong, she becomes anxious. Meanwhile, Qu Zheng stands quietly by the door of a million. Although she feels his presence, when she steps outside, she finds nothing—only a pigeon post delivered by a maid. It’s a message from Song Jian Shan, informing her that Qu Zheng has left the Tingqin Courtyard and seems to have gone to the Ninefold Abyss to find Jing Yuan.
Upon reading this, a million realizes that the person outside was Qu Zheng, who has now hidden away. She calls out his name, and Qu Zheng silently listens, feeling a renewed pain in his heart. A million understands Qu Zheng is about to leave, so she quickly recalls their previous promise. Qu Zheng hesitates, but when she asserts that if he leaves, she will never speak to him again, he decides to stop.
A million immediately embraces Qu Zheng, not wanting him to go. Qu Zheng recognizes that she has reverted to her former self. As he turns to leave, she knocks him out. Remembering everything, she no longer wants Qu Zheng's protection, realizing this might be her last chance to keep him with her.
The next day, a million heads to the Ninefold Abyss to confront Jing Yuan. Knowing her as the former Xueyue Envoy, no one dares to stop her. Jing Yuan is surprised to hear that Ah Chu has returned, as her arrival seems like a death wish. A million bows before Jing Yuan but does not call him “Master” as she did before, explaining that she remembers everything, including his deceit. She declares that she has come to trade her life for something else, stating that Qu Zheng's tactics are no longer needed. She then produces two pages of scripture, leaving Jing Yuan stunned.
He threatens her, but she boldly replies that he could kill her, yet he will never know if the scriptures are genuine. With no retort, Jing Yuan orders her to be imprisoned in the dungeon.
Zi Jing speculates that the scriptures must be fake, to which Jing Yuan questions her reasoning—after all, no one can be certain.
Meanwhile, Qing Yun quietly visits the dungeon to see a million. From Qing Yun, she learns that the medical oddity is helping Jing Yuan with his treatments. Just as she is about to ask more questions, Qing Yun realizes she is trying to extract information from him. It dawns on him that she is still considering Qu Zheng’s situation, which makes him heartbroken, and he leaves abruptly. A million, calculating her next move, realizes that only by finding the medical oddity can she clear Qu Zheng’s name, so she decides to leave quickly.
When Jing Yuan arrives, he encounters Qing Yun as he is leaving and reprimands him before heading to find a million. Jing Yuan asks if the scriptures are real, but she remains silent, only stating that poor cultivation can lead to madness or even death. Jing Yuan attempts to kill her, but suddenly he feels unwell. Zi Jing quickly supports him, insisting on finding the medical oddity.
Meanwhile, a million seizes the opportunity to escape. Her martial arts skills restored, she effortlessly breaks through the encirclement, but ultimately faces Zi Jing. The two are evenly matched until Qu Zheng makes a timely appearance to rescue her. He takes a million away, and neither Qing Yun nor Zi Jing can stop them.
Qu Zheng scolds a million for disregarding her safety, but she replies that she no longer wants to be protected. Touched, Qu Zheng kisses her sweetly. They then head to reunite with Jin Mu Qiu and Su Zhuo Zhuo. When a million mentions the medical oddity, Su Zhuo Zhuo suddenly recalls her uncle, who was expelled from his sect. His nickname is the medical oddity, and he lives in the perilous Heiquan Valley. The group agrees that finding him is their priority! Thus, they set off together. Later that night, while resting, Song Jian Shan asks Su Zhuo Zhuo to examine Qu Zheng for his heartache, but strangely, Su Zhuo Zhuo finds nothing wrong!
