Episode 5 recap: Qu Zheng Injures Jing Yuan

In Episode 5, everyone surrounds the three individuals, with the others accusing Jin Bai Wan of stealing from himself, claiming he killed Qing Song Ke to keep the "Pu Yuan Zhen Jing" for himself. Su Zhuo Zhuo immediately objects, stating that Qing Song Ke is already dead, but the accusations continue. When Bai Wan tries to explain, Su Zhuo Zhuo bluntly points out that the other party is after the sacred text.

Tensions escalate, leading to a chaotic scuffle that damages the text, resulting in two torn pages falling out, with the rest blank. The opponents quickly blame Bai Wan for the damage. Seeing this, Qu Zheng steps in to protect Bai Wan, promising to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Bai Wan, realizing their mission isn't complete, leaves the two torn pages in Qing Song Ke's courtyard. Qu Zheng then decides to send Su Zhuo Zhuo back to Yan Men while he plans to split from Bai Wan. Despite Bai Wan's reluctance, she has no choice but to accept and sets off alone.

Qu Zheng's subordinates are secretly watching and notice someone in a mask fixated on the torn pages. Not long after, Bai Wan is pursued. She attempts to lead her pursuers away to create trouble for Qu Zheng, but they remain focused on her. In a critical moment, Qu Zheng's masked subordinate appears and saves Bai Wan, while Qu Zheng confronts the masked figure.

The masked individual is a skilled fighter, but Qu Zheng holds his own. After a fierce exchange, the masked man realizes he's at a disadvantage and quickly flees. Concerned for Bai Wan's safety, Qu Zheng rushes to her aid, only to find her puzzled about the identity of her rescuer. Qu Zheng teasingly asks, "Why not look at me right in front of you?" Bai Wan explains, and when Qu Zheng prepares to leave again, she grows scared and insists that he lead the way while she follows.

That night, Bai Wan finds various ways to praise Qu Zheng. Though he remains outwardly calm, he secretly watches her after she falls asleep.

Unbeknownst to them, the masked man is Jing Yuan, the lord of the Nine Layers of the Abyss. Years ago, he wiped out the Xu family to dominate the martial world and took the "Pu Yuan Zhen Jing." Although the text is incomplete, he forced himself to cultivate it, leaving him severely injured.

During their encounter, Jing Yuan realizes that his opponent is very knowledgeable about the text, raising his caution. A doctor reveals that he needs snow lotus to heal, but it only grows in Taoyuan Valley. Meanwhile, Qu Zheng deduces that the injured masked man will seek medicine there but decides not to reveal his true identity.

Qu Zheng introduces his secret guard, Song Jian Shan, to Bai Wan, and they enact a “forced matchmaking” scenario. Qu Zheng pretends to be helpless, and although Bai Wan is confused, she feels unexpectedly sad as she sees them packing to leave. Hearing the phrase "We shall meet again at the ends of the earth" makes her tears flow uncontrollably. She suddenly runs to stop Qu Zheng, asking if getting married means she won't have to return.

Qu Zheng remains silent. Gathering her courage, Bai Wan asks, "Would you marry me?" When Qu Zheng still doesn’t respond, she feels disheartened and turns to leave. Just then, Qu Zheng finally speaks: "I would." Bai Wan freezes, as if the entire world has come to a standstill.
