Episode 7 recap: Jin Mu Qiu and Lin Feng Confirm Their Feelings

In Episode 7, Bai Wan feels that the person, Qing Yun, looks familiar, prompting her to sneak a glance at him. Zi Jing is taken to a room by a servant, and Qing Yun, noticing her following, overhears their conversation and realizes they are headed to the storeroom of Taoyuan Valley. The steward leads everyone to the kitchen and notices someone is missing just as Qing Yun returns. The steward accuses Qing Yun, who responds impatiently. Bai Wan, standing up for Qing Yun, throws a handful of mung beans, causing the steward to fall. This distraction allows Qing Yun to evade further scrutiny. Qing Yun can’t help but gaze at Bai Wan, who asks for his name. However, Qing Yun is lost in thoughts of A Chu and takes a moment to respond. Bai Wan is puzzled by how Qing Yun keeps comparing himself to different people, to which Qing Yun retorts that she isn’t as talkative as Bai Wan.

While Bai Wan is at a loss for words, Qu Zheng rushes in, surprising her with his quick arrival. Despite this, Bai Wan remains firm in her decision not to burden Qu Zheng and expresses her desire to engage in the marriage arrangement. Qu Zheng struggles to change her mind. Meanwhile, Jin Mu Qiu's father advises her to play the piano to attract Lin Feng. However, she only knows one song. Eventually, Lin Feng approaches her and suggests they play together. Jin Mu Qiu starts with the song she knows, and Lin Feng eagerly agrees.

Qu Zheng discusses with Jian Yun that Bai Wan wants to pursue the marriage arrangement. He suspects this might be related to what he told Su Zhuo Zhuo, but he doesn’t blame Jian Yun for it. Jian Yun, feeling guilty, apologizes. While spending time with Lin Feng, Jin Mu Qiu accidentally reveals her fondness for kites. Lin Feng takes out a kite he made, and Jin Mu Qiu writes on it. As they fly the kite together, Jin Mu Qiu stumbles and they accidentally kiss. Both are embarrassed, but Lin Feng seizes the moment to confess his feelings. This is the first time Jin Mu Qiu hears Lin Feng express his affection, and she is thrilled.

Later, they go shopping together, and Lin Feng pays close attention to Jin Mu Qiu’s preferences, which delights her. They also visit a bookstore, where Jin Mu Qiu is concerned about the sales of her stories. Lin Feng bluntly states that these books are bad, leaving Jin Mu Qiu stunned. It turns out he doesn’t like them at all and even disparages the genre. When Jin Mu Qiu asks what he would do if the author were present, Lin Feng responds that he would immediately cut ties, leaving Jin Mu Qiu visibly disappointed.

While chatting with her father, Jin Mu Qiu realizes the end of the month is approaching and she hasn’t written anything in a long time. With the submission deadline looming, she knows she must write immediately, but Lin Feng is always around, making it difficult for her. Meanwhile, Bai Wan is visited by Jian Yun, who urges her to talk to Qu Zheng about her feelings. Bai Wan stubbornly insists she will handle it herself, though she is clearly conflicted. Jian Yun notices her turmoil, but Bai Wan continues to avoid Qu Zheng. Qu Zheng, noticing her, intentionally converses with Su Zhuo Zhuo, which Bai Wan observes, unwittingly revealing her anger.

Later, Qu Zheng sends someone to find Bai Wan in the kitchen. When she arrives, she discovers Qu Zheng is genuinely criticizing the pastries, but he is actually teasing her. Qu Zheng is surprised to learn that Su Zhuo Zhuo is genuinely interested in him, prompting her to ask him to consider her feelings, which leaves Bai Wan heartbroken.

Jin Mu Qiu and her group soon arrive at Taoyuan Town. During the journey, some of her dowry spills out, and she panics about Lin Feng seeing her books. The most daunting challenge, however, is that she must meet Lin Feng’s parents, which makes her extremely anxious!
