Episode 12 recap: Qi Heng Yi Returns
In Episode 12, Zhao Jia Qi tells Zhan Guo to take a shower and rest a bit before dinner. While Zhao Jia Qi goes out to buy some things, Zhan Guo can’t help but shout in frustration. Xici Li takes Qi Heng Yi abroad, explaining that the detox process is incredibly brutal, leading to only two possible outcomes: either Qi Heng Yi succumbs to his addiction or he overcomes it and becomes himself again.
Qi Heng Yi struggles painfully with withdrawal, begging Xici Li for a shot while being restrained. Once released, he starts eating and expresses how delicious the food is, saying he no longer wants revenge and just wants to live well. However, Xici Li prepares some drugs and shows them to Qi Heng Yi, causing him to completely break down and plead with her for some.
Xici Li kicks Qi Heng Yi away and restrains him again. Today is a break, and Peng Ying Xiang plans to visit Qi Heng Yi. Cheng Han Yue happens to pass by and expresses interest in joining, insisting she can help in any way possible.
Cheng Han Yue and Peng Ying Xiang arrive at the hospital, where a nurse informs them that Qi Heng Yi has taken a leave of absence and hasn’t been there for several days. Cheng Han Yue asks Peng Ying Xiang if she knows where Qi Heng Yi lives, but Peng Ying Xiang admits she isn’t very familiar with him. Cheng Han Yue worries that Qi Heng Yi may not have informed his parents about his situation, and it's not advisable for them to just show up unannounced. After all, it’s unlikely anyone would commit suicide over something like this in today’s world.
Xici Li reflects on her mistakes, realizing that perhaps no one can truly overcome addiction. Although Qi Heng Yi hasn’t touched drugs for over ten days, just seeing them makes him forget everything else. Based on her experience, Xici Li states that a person can hang there all night without dying, and today is the last day of detox, leaving it up to Qi Heng Yi to manage himself.
After taking a nap, Xici Li brings the drugs to show Qi Heng Yi. He turns away, refusing to look, but Xici Li holds him down, and he spits at her in defiance. Meanwhile, Zhao Jia Qi and Zhan Guo are getting their marriage certificate when Zhao Jia Qi’s father calls. He talks to Zhan Guo, reminding him that Zhao Jia Qi is his only daughter and urges him to take good care of her.
Zhan Guo asks Zhao Jia Qi when her father will return. Zhao Jia Qi's father explains that he is busy with business and unfortunately cannot come back, meaning he won't be able to attend their wedding. Zhao Jia Qi will understand. Previously, Xu Yu Hui had informed Zhan Guo about Zhao Jia Qi's father's situation: he hasn't committed any crimes within China, but he sold arms to African tribes, which led to the kidnapping of Chinese crew members. Since he's a member of an Interpol country, they must apprehend Zhao Jia Qi's father.
When Zhan Guo returns and shares this news with Peng Ying Xiang and the others, he says that Zhao Jia Qi's father is unwilling to come back, but he will think of another way. Peng Ying Xiang reassures Zhan Guo not to feel too much pressure, suggesting that if Zhao Jia Qi's father never returns, they should just live their lives and do what they need to do.
Zhan Guo believes that the only way to resolve this situation is to capture Zhao Jia Qi's father, and he promises to do his best. Meanwhile, Xici Li continuously trains Qi Heng Yi, encouraging him to push his limits. She tells him that tapping into his primal strength will bring him immense pleasure and help him realize that nothing is impossible.
Xici Li buys a plane ticket for Qi Heng Yi, telling him she will take him abroad to practice shooting. They arrive at a location where Xici Li points out an animal nearby and instructs Qi Heng Yi to shoot it. Qi Heng Yi is confused about why they need to do this, but Xici Li explains that it's about killing his past self to welcome a new version of himself.
Qi Heng Yi shoots the animal and feels elated, declaring that he did it. Xici Li then asks if he still wants to eliminate William Sun, to which Qi Heng Yi replies that he has already forgotten about him. When Qi Heng Yi returns to the office, everyone is shocked by his appearance.
Meanwhile, Peng Ying Xiang's car breaks down on the road, and she has no choice but to fix it herself. Cheng Han Yue sees a young woman riding by on a motorcycle and thinks it looks incredibly cool, saying that if she weren't a police officer, she'd love to do that too.
