Episode 16 recap: Qi Heng Yi Turns Himself In
In Episode 16, Zhao Fuqiang reminds Zhan Guo to remember his words as he hands over a gun. Zhan Guo takes Zhao Fuqiang outside, where the instructor is waiting. The instructor states that Zhao Fuqiang will be handed over to him, instructing Zhan Guo to go back and accompany Zhao Jia Qi. Zhao Jia Qi mentions her desire for a divorce, and they proceed to handle the paperwork together.
Although Zhan Guo is reluctant, he feels he has no choice. He apologizes to Zhao Jia Qi, but she insists it’s unnecessary. When Zhan Guo brings up their child, Zhao Jia Qi reveals that she has already agreed to take custody, questioning whether Zhan Guo thinks she’s too young or that her father is a convicted criminal who can’t care for a child.
Zhan Guo is left speechless. Zhao Jia Qi informs him that she is getting married the next day, and although the groom isn’t Zhan Guo, she hopes he can attend. After returning home, Zhan Guo is lost in thought, prompting Cheng Han Yue and the others to watch him from a distance, concerned.
Everyone feels that as special police officers, they should just take action; the situation seems ridiculous. Cheng Han Yue tells them to keep quiet so Zhan Guo doesn’t get upset. The instructor discusses the matter with Peng Ying Xiang, noting that Zhan Guo has sent invitation texts to other special police officers. He stresses that they shouldn’t let Zhan Guo go, especially after everything has been settled, fearing things could go wrong.
Peng Ying Xiang assures him that everything is arranged and Zhan Guo will not be allowed to go out. The next day, Zhan Guo tells everyone to go home and not worry about him, insisting he won’t be going anywhere. Cheng Han Yue and the others head back to rest.
Upon returning home, Zhan Guo finds that everything has been moved out, leaving only a statue of himself. Zhao Jia Qi has left him a letter, explaining that she has gone to a place he cannot reach and promises to take good care of their child, suggesting that she is fulfilling her dream of being a police officer’s wife. Zhan Guo is heartbroken upon reading it.
Meanwhile, Xu Yu Hui receives a message and navigates through several bus rides. The sender confirms that Xu Yu Hui is no longer being followed and instructs him to meet at a parking lot. When Xu Yu Hui arrives, he is surprised to find Qi Heng Yi waiting for him.
Qi Heng Yi tells Xu Yu Hui that he has something important to share, revealing everything that has happened during this time. Xu Yu Hui is shocked and finds it unbelievable. Qi Heng Yi points to something in the back seat, and when Xu Yu Hui retrieves it, he discovers it's a gun—confirming that Qi Heng Yi is telling the truth.
Xu Yu Hui states that he cannot make a decision on his own and needs to report to the chief. As soon as he gets out of the car, a group of men in black suddenly appears, leaving Xu Yu Hui stunned; he never expected Qi Heng Yi to set him up. Qi Heng Yi is also surprised, insisting he didn’t orchestrate this.
Their father steps out, commenting on how casually the operation in Donghai is being handled. Xu Yu Hui is equally surprised to see him. Their father takes them away, expressing his pleasure at Qi Heng Yi's decision to turn himself in. He mentions he can help save Xu Yu Hui from hell, and he also wants to rescue Xisili, although she has not turned herself in. He claims to know about K2, Bai Lang, and Chai Lang.
Qi Heng Yi explains that Xisili is in a difficult situation because her sister is in Bai Lang's hands. Their father then reveals that Qi Heng Yi's mother has also been kidnapped, leaving Qi Heng Yi at a loss for words. Their father admits that they initially overlooked William, considering him just a small-time thug, until Chai Lang helped Xu Yu Hui detox, which made them realize the gravity of the situation.
Their father offers Qi Heng Yi two choices: the first is to return with Xu Yu Hui and turn himself in, accepting whatever consequences may come; the second is to assist them, with the possibility of a reduced sentence for significant contributions. Qi Heng Yi chooses the second option and asks their father what he should do. Their father instructs him to lure Xisili out so he can speak with her personally.
Using a secure phone, Qi Heng Yi contacts Xisili to arrange a meeting. He tells her that someone wants to talk. Xisili is surprised, but while they speak, their father’s men inject her with a tranquilizer, rendering her unconscious and binding her. When Xisili wakes up, she believes Qi Heng Yi has betrayed her and is furious.
