Episode 17 recap: Wu Yi Man Joins the Operation
In Episode 17, the old man asks Qi Heng Yi to temporarily leave the room to speak privately with Xixi Li. He hands her a phone, and on the other end, a worried sergeant's voice is heard. As soon as the sergeant realizes it's Xixi Li, he becomes anxious, fearing something has happened to her, and insists on coming to her rescue. The old man takes the phone and quietly reassures the sergeant that he is a senior officer from the Ministry of Public Security of China, and that Xixi Li is currently safe.
The old man then shows Xixi Li a photo of her younger sister, causing her eyes to well up with tears. She pleads with the old man to save her sister, even expressing willingness to give up everything for her. The old man understands her feelings but calmly points out that taking action now would expose Xixi Li and jeopardize the rescue plan. Though Xixi Li is desperate, she understands the old man's concerns and resolutely declares that she harbors deep hatred for Bai Lang, eager to end this feud herself. The old man looks at her, feeling both compassion and understanding of her determination.
To ensure a successful operation, the old man assigns Qi Heng Yi a code name—"Snow Wolf"—to act as their liaison, emphasizing the importance of trust and advising that no one but Qi Heng Yi should be trusted.
After Xixi Li and Qi Heng Yi leave, Xixi Li feels dazed. Just hours ago, she was an undercover assassin for the K2 organization in Donghai, and now her identity has shifted to that of a special operative for the Chinese police. Qi Heng Yi gently tells her that he will stay by her side.
The old man's thoughts drift to his son, who, over the years, has been put in danger due to his mission. His son was unfortunately captured, enduring torment yet remaining unyielding. Ultimately, he escaped through his wits. Though he hasn't fully evaded his pursuers, the courage and determination he showed make the old man both proud and pained.
Meanwhile, Yan Jun is anxious about his mother coming to propose a match for him, and he seeks help from his friend Peng Ying Xiang. Out of frustration, Peng Ying Xiang calls Wang Rui Jie in to let Yan Jun face the situation himself. When Yan Jun's mother meets Wang Rui Jie, her satisfaction is evident, creating a warm yet slightly awkward atmosphere.
At the same time, the instructor finds Wu Yi Man and informs her about an important secret mission that requires her participation. This mission does not require weapons, only a computer. Wu Yi Man gladly accepts and is soon dispatched to assist the old man.
Cheng Han Yue reveals to Wang Rui Jie that he has been transferred to the bomb disposal unit of the special police squad and will serve as team leader. Although Wang Rui Jie is reluctant, he understands his responsibilities with Cheng Han Yue's comforting words.
During an inspection, the team leader emphasizes the importance of the upcoming national political and economic summit for the police dog unit, urging Wang Rui Jie to enhance their training. During this time, the team leader inquires about He Yu Yang's relationship with Ba Te Er and learns that while they are in contact, no work discussions have taken place. More surprisingly, Ba Te Er had proposed to the team leader but was politely declined. The team leader's reasoning was straightforward: he did not want He Yu Yang to marry far from home.
Just as everything seems calm, a phone call from Bai Lang shatters the tranquility. He demands to awaken Xixi Li and her companions. The team leader immediately confers with Peng Ying Xiang about a response. Although Peng Ying Xiang is saddened by Bai Lang's downfall, as a police officer, he knows his duty is to bring him to justice. Faced with the choice between former brotherhood and justice, Peng Ying Xiang chooses the latter, vowing to capture Bai Lang.
