Episode 18 recap: Bomb at the Amusement Park
In Episode 18, the squad leader emphasizes that Bai Lang is a key figure within the K2 organization, holding a significant position. Upon hearing this, Peng Ying Xiang immediately declares that knowing Bai Lang's importance makes it even more crucial to keep a close watch on him without hesitation. The squad leader nods in agreement.
At this moment, Bai Lang is reviewing security information about Peng Ying Xiang and Cheng Han Yue's team, particularly the three formidable security units: the Lightning Strike Team and the Thunder Squad from the Public Security Special Police, the Armed Police Special Operations Team, and the Bluetooth Strike Team led by his old friend.
His subordinates are discussing how they've faced numerous top international special forces, but Bai Lang remains unconvinced. He asserts that security in China is no joke; it’s solid and reliable. He adds that while national leaders are typically priority targets, this time their focus is different, as the "value" of the target can change.
Cheng Han Yue rushes to He Yu Yang, mentioning Ba Te Er but hesitating. He Yu Yang, anxious, presses for details about Ba Te Er. Just then, members of the Wolf Tooth Assault Team arrive carrying a box. He Yu Yang, thinking something has happened to Ba Te Er, nearly faints.
The Wolf Tooth team looks confused, explaining that it’s just their equipment box, and they ask He Yu Yang why he seems upset. Ba Te Er arrives in time, and He Yu Yang excitedly hugs him. Upon inquiry, they learn that Ba Te Er is also part of this security mission, operating under the Special Police's unified command.
The team leader asks Ba Te Er if he has eaten, to which Ba Te Er replies he hasn’t had the chance. Peng Ying Xiang has already prepared breakfast and invites everyone to join. The instructor chats with Ba Te Er, discovering he has been in uniform for 11 years, including his time at military school, and is now a major.
The instructor calculates that in police ranks, that would be a second-level police captain, similar to his own rank, but he has been in the field for nearly 20 years.
The squad leader gathers everyone for a meeting, making it clear that their responsibility is to ensure the security operation goes flawlessly. He reveals that the biggest threat is Bai Lang and instructs everyone not to mention a word about the materials they reviewed.
He specifically notes that the Wolf Tooth team is the elite of the military and the last line of defense, and he hopes they won’t have to be deployed.
Just then, someone reports a bomb at the amusement park's tea restaurant, with an explosion expected in 40 minutes. Wang Rui Jie quickly leads the police dog unit to the scene, and the squad leader assigns a team to handle the situation. At the site, local police are evacuating the crowd, and Wang Rui Jie decisively orders the public to leave while sending in the elite team to search.
With just 7 minutes left before the explosion, a suspicious package is found in the ice cream freezer. Wang Rui Jie puts on a bomb suit and enters to defuse the bomb. Upon inspection, she discovers a backpack filled with a complex, timed explosive device. Time is running out, and there’s no chance to dismantle it.
In a moment of crisis, a child runs into her line of sight. Wang Rui Jie quickly tells the child to run away but realizes she doesn’t have time to escape herself. Thinking quickly, she instructs Peng Ying Xiang to save the child while she attempts to disrupt the circuit using nail polish remover.
As seconds tick by, a chemical reaction between the nail polish remover and the ice cream unexpectedly sever the circuit and prevent the explosion. Yan Jun rushes in to safely extract Wang Rui Jie.
Afterward, Peng Ying Xiang inquires about the situation and learns that Wang Rui Jie’s quick thinking and clever use of nail polish remover saved everyone. While the team searches outside, they discover an electronic bird covered in chewing gum, clearly placed there by someone. Peng Ying Xiang immediately orders it to be sent to forensics for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the emergency hotline receives another call, reporting a second bomb at the Qingliangmen train station, with only 30 minutes left...
