Episode 2 recap: Peng Ying Xiang Leads the Training

In Episode 2, Peng Ying Xiang visits his sleeping girlfriend and gently tells her that he has to return to work and may not be able to spend as much time with her as before. Memories of a harrowing incident flood his mind: while on a mission, a suspect tried to escape, and his girlfriend bravely chased after him, even jumping onto the suspect's car to intercept him. Unfortunately, she was severely injured in the process and was thrown off by the collision.

The team leader reviews the report Peng Ying Xiang brought back and learns from Dr. Qi that his girlfriend is out of danger. He agrees to let Peng Ying Xiang return to the team. Eager to get back, Peng Ying Xiang quickly rejoins his unit. The squad leader gathers everyone together, and his comrades express how much they missed him.

Concerned, Peng Ying Xiang asks Cheng Hanyue how she feels about his return, and she expresses her hope for him to rejoin the team soon. With some time before mealtime, Peng Ying Xiang suggests they do a physical training exercise. The so-called "brick moving" involves carrying heavy equipment in a relay format, which helps build strength and teamwork.

After a tough session, they finally get to mealtime, only to find the cafeteria in chaos—if they wait too long, there may be no food left. Just as Cheng Hanyue and Wang Ruijie are still in line, Peng Ying Xiang suddenly calls for a formation, but allows the two of them to stay and eat. They quickly recognize this as a stalling tactic and rush to join the formation.

Training continues, but the instructor feels that such intensity is not suitable for the first day, especially with two female team members present. Peng Ying Xiang is adamant, stating that on the battlefield, there are no distinctions between genders—only life and death. He must ensure that every team member can adapt and fulfill their duties to avoid any regrets in the future.

During his recovery, Peng Ying Xiang, under Dr. Qi’s hypnotic guidance, revisits that dangerous memory. He struggles internally, reluctant to face that pain again, and declines further psychological treatment.

Meanwhile, the instructor privately encourages Cheng Hanyue and Wang Ruijie, awarding Cheng Hanyue a police rank in recognition of her performance during her internship at the station, thus shortening her probationary period. Peng Ying Xiang’s tendency to make generous equipment requests gives the team leader a headache, who jokingly remarks that if this continues, he might have to step down from his position.

Peng Ying Xiang quickly defuses the situation, emphasizing that everything is for the benefit of the team. As thirty-two female recruits arrive, Peng Ying Xiang, as the team leader, introduces himself and announces that Cheng Hanyue will serve as the temporary training captain for arriving a month early, responsible for supporting everyone.

He arranges for them to eat first, a surprisingly friendly gesture that sparks discussions among the new team members, who expected a stern introduction but found Peng Ying Xiang to be so approachable.

After the meal, everyone takes turns introducing themselves and showcasing their talents. Wang Ruijie proudly presents her police dog partner and demonstrates its skills. Although the dog, Yan Jun, seems a bit timid, it performs well under Wang Ruijie’s whistle commands.

Dong Chunlei, from a martial arts family, impresses everyone with her performance. A brief mishap occurs when Yan Jun pretends to "lose" and feigns fainting, startling Dong Chunlei, who quickly apologizes, lightening the atmosphere even more.

Dr. Qi calls at a timely moment, asking Peng Ying Xiang why he missed his follow-up appointment. Apologizing for forgetting due to work, Peng Ying Xiang promises to be there on time tomorrow. After hanging up, he resolves to face any challenges ahead, knowing that he is not only the leader of his team but also their strongest support.
