Episode 4 recap: Cheng Han Yue and Team Face Defeat

In episode 4, Uncle Wang at the cafeteria warmly greets everyone, boasting about the steaming buns, rich hot and spicy soup, and thick soy milk he made himself that morning, promising they would be satisfying. However, Cheng Han Yue and her team hesitate to eat. Concerned, Uncle Wang asks if the food doesn't suit their taste and offers to prepare something else if they request it.

Cheng Han Yue quickly explains that everyone loves the food, but they don't want to trouble him. She turns to her teammates and encourages them, saying they can't let the captain and senior members' goodwill go to waste, and they should eat up to fuel their training.

Meanwhile, Peng Ying Xiang goes to get the captain's signature but is surprised to find the captain particularly agreeable, which leaves him feeling confused. The captain smiles and reveals that he was initially worried about Peng Ying Xiang's ability to lead the team, but received a call from higher-ups praising him for his effective training. Hearing this, Peng Ying Xiang mumbles to himself that the captain's sudden change in attitude is too quick for him to adjust to; he thinks, "Maybe you should scold me a bit like before—I’d feel more at ease."

Soon, Cheng Han Yue and her team arrive at the beach for training. Just as they are about to take a break, someone accidentally falls into a pit, causing panic among the group. Suddenly, a group of armed personnel appears, and the tension escalates. Cheng Han Yue and her team quickly grab their training guns, but those weapons lack real firepower.

Peng Ying Xiang arrives just in time, and the armed personnel question him about disrupting their reconnaissance mission. He identifies himself as a veteran of the 026 Special Assault Team, which establishes a basis for dialogue.

It turns out that this group is the elite Wolf Tooth Special Operations Brigade of China, led by Major Hadanbatel. The chief of staff immediately recognizes Peng Ying Xiang and suggests a friendly match to see who is better. Peng Ying Xiang consults his teammates; although they find the opponents physically imposing, their fighting spirit remains undeterred, and they decide to accept the challenge. A few teammates who had taken leave are urgently called back to join.

The competition consists of several rounds, starting with hand-to-hand combat. Both Dong Chunlei and another team member face off but unfortunately lose. Next comes the shooting competition, which tests not only their skills but also their trust in one another. They must hit the target without accidentally injuring teammates nearby, making it extremely challenging. The men's team performs well, but when it’s Nie Ru Jia's turn from the women's team, she gets too nervous to shoot and has to concede defeat.

Upon returning to the camp, the atmosphere is somber. Cheng Han Yue sternly points out that joining the special police force means embracing challenges and enduring hardships. She criticizes the team for being overconfident in their everyday lives but faltering at critical moments. She emphasizes that this approach will not work going forward. Her words ignite a renewed fighting spirit among the team, and from that point on, their training intensifies.
