Episode 11 recap: Lin Hao and Ha Li Ke Get Cheated on Stones
In Episode 11, Ha Li Ke takes Lin Hao to the stone market, hoping to strike it lucky. Outside the market, they spot an old man selling stones. Ha Li Ke sees a green stone and believes it to be jade. The two of them pool all their money—over a thousand dollars—and buy a bag of stones from the old man. Later, when they have the stones checked, they discover they've been scammed; the stones are artificially colored. Instead of making a profit, they've lost over a thousand dollars on a bag of worthless rocks.
Originally, they thought they were getting a great deal, as the stones were supposed to be worth over three thousand dollars. They never expected such a disappointing outcome. When they return to the fort with the stones, they get an earful from Aierken. Reporting the scam to the police proves useless, as the police state that the old man never claimed the stones were jade; Ha Li Ke and Lin Hao chose to buy them voluntarily, so it doesn't qualify as fraud.
It’s clear that relying on luck to make money won't work, and they need to find a more reliable way to earn an income. Meanwhile, their training ground hasn’t been demolished, which has made Mardan even more hostile toward Ha Li Ke’s family. Not only is he refusing to sell fertilizer to Ha Li Ke’s father, but he’s also been throwing bottles at their house. Fortunately, no one has been hurt. When Ha Li Ke learns about this, he decides to confront Mardan and Hao Qiang, but his parents stop him.
Xi Lin visits the repair shop to find Ha Li Ke. He shares the news of the stone scam with her, and Xi Lin decides to go to the police station the next day to explain the situation to the chief. Ha Li Ke feels guilty for causing trouble for his family and regrets not stopping Mardan from trying to demolish the training ground. Xi Lin reassures him that she doesn’t want him to have such thoughts.
She informs Ha Li Ke that Hao Qiang has already had a falling out with the town mayor over the training ground. Ha Li Ke understands Hao Qiang's concerns but doesn’t want the issue with the training ground to create problems for him, his family, or Xi Lin. Hao Qiang is fighting to keep the training ground not just for Ha Li Ke, but also to support the dreams of the younger generation in motorcycle riding.
Lin Hao, Ha Li Ke, and Aierken each start looking for ways to raise money. Aierken goes to the mine to inquire if they need workers to transport coal. Ha Li Ke decides to rent out his repair shop, while Lin Hao seeks out Gu Chengfeng. However, Gu Chengfeng's condition is that Lin Hao must join his racing team. Lin Hao can’t abandon Aierken and Ha Li Ke, so he politely declines Gu Chengfeng’s offer. To him, loyalty is more important, and he doesn’t hesitate to refuse.
Next, Lin Hao approaches Shen Di, hoping to take on some of the ground transportation work. Shen Di doesn’t refuse him but maintains the usual split of 70-30. If Lin Hao can design a new tourist route, he could increase his commission, and Lin Hao agrees to Shen Di's terms.
Xi Lin thinks of a way to help Ha Li Ke raise funds by organizing a crowdfunding campaign in the village. However, Ha Li Ke firmly disagrees, stating he won’t take money from the villagers to compete, as that would be even more disrespectful to Kerimu’s family. Xi Lin is taken aback by Ha Li Ke’s rejection and declares that she won’t get involved in his matters anymore. Ha Li Ke believes it’s not something she needs to concern herself with, and Xi Lin storms out of the repair shop in frustration.
Aierken invites Lin Hao and Ha Li Ke to dinner and announces that he plans to race in the unsupported category. His goal is to understand his relationship with motorcycles; he believes that riding alone will help him figure it out. He decides not to form a team anymore, actually doing this to give the two young men better opportunities. They can only have a chance to succeed by joining a team like Gu Chengfeng’s. However, with their current amateur training and the need to scramble for funds, even if they compete, they likely won’t achieve good results.
Lin Hao feels a bit disappointed in Aierken; the team they had just formed is dissolving so quickly. Aierken feels the same way, as he also wishes to participate in the rally. But for Lin Hao and Ha Li Ke’s sake, he is willing to give up that opportunity.
