Episode 13 recap: Lin Hao Wins the Rally Championship
In Episode 13, the rally race took place as scheduled, and only those involved could truly understand the challenges behind it. Buick and Porta, along with Shen Di, pooled all the cash they could gather, knowing they had to spend wisely. Buick felt incredibly grateful for Porta and Shen Di's support during such tough times.
Up until the race, Lin Hao couldn't get in touch with Aiken. With the race approaching, they had no time to worry about it and focused on competing. In the first stage, Ha Li Ke performed outstandingly, taking first place, while Gu Chengfeng came in second. Everyone cheered for Ha Li Ke, and Lin Hao was thrilled.
With four more stages to go, Gu Chengfeng was confident he could overtake Ha Li Ke. Lin Hao, however, wasn’t intimidated; they wouldn't let Gu Chengfeng catch up easily. After the race, Lin Hao contacted Sainam to ask about Aiken's whereabouts. Sainam falsely claimed he had family matters and had taken Aiken back to his hometown in Yili, leaving Lin Hao skeptical.
The second stage presented more rugged terrain, causing several competitors to fall. Nevertheless, Ha Li Ke maintained his lead. However, Gu Chengfeng ultimately claimed victory in this stage. As the third stage began, Gu Chengfeng was in great form, leading the pack. But Lin Hao shone brightly, overtaking Gu Chengfeng, while Ha Li Ke struggled and was absent from the media’s view.
After navigating the sand dunes, Lin Hao reached the finish line first. This stage posed a significant challenge for the drivers, as any navigation error could lead them off course. As the race neared its end, the other drivers began to arrive, but Lin Hao noticed Ha Li Ke was missing. Unbeknownst to him, Ha Li Ke's vehicle had broken down, and he was busy trying to fix it.
Calling for rescue would be considered a withdrawal from the race, so Ha Li Ke was determined to finish without assistance. He finally made it to the finish line but ended up placing poorly, falling out of the top five. The axle of Ha Li Ke’s vehicle had broken, and they didn’t have spare parts. Gu Chengfeng’s team did have a spare, but they were saving it for later stages, so they wouldn’t lend it to Lin Hao and Ha Li Ke, leaving them to find another solution.
Lin Hao remembered that they were close to Hongshan Ridge, so he took Ha Li Ke and the motorcycle to a workshop to see if they could find parts. There, they unexpectedly met Director Luo, who helped them locate the right components. Director Luo’s enthusiasm and willingness to assist left Lin Hao a bit overwhelmed. He was about to move to Guangdong to live with his son, and he felt a bit sentimental about leaving.
After a long night, they finally repaired the motorcycle. Director Luo hoped Lin Hao and his team would achieve good results but reminded them to prioritize safety. Meanwhile, Buick's funds were still insufficient, and Shen Di suggested reaching out to Sheng Lin for help. Sheng Lin agreed to support them financially, though the funds would arrive late. Fortunately, Buick's older brother, Ye Quan, sent some money to help them out, bringing good news that the race had caught the attention of the cultural tourism bureau, encouraging Buick to continue.
In the end, Lin Hao emerged as the champion of the rally, with Gu Chengfeng in second place. Unfortunately, Ha Li Ke’s vehicle malfunctioned again midway, preventing him from completing the race successfully.
