Episode 19 recap: Lin Hao Seriously Injured and Rushed to the Hospital
In Episode 19, Lin Hao attempts a flying stunt during the selection competition but tragically loses control, sending both himself and his motorcycle flying. He is rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. Upon hearing the news, Lin Hao's father and his friend Ha Li Ke are frantic and immediately head to the hospital. After examinations, it is revealed that Lin Hao has three broken bones. Although his leg has been set, his spinal injury is severe. The conditions at Haining Hospital are inadequate, necessitating a transfer to a larger hospital in Urumqi for proper treatment.
Meanwhile, Hao Qiang's wife has just returned home after surgery. Despite feeling weak, she puts on a brave face and chooses to shoulder the burden alone, not wanting to worry her family, as even informing them won't change the situation. At the same time, Xi Lin's family is urging her to return to Haining, but she is reluctant to leave the warmth of the Big Fortress family, feeling a deep attachment.
Lin Hao’s mother arrives at the hospital in a hurry, and she and his father engage in a heated argument over the surgical plan. The mother wishes to have a top expert from Shenzhen perform the surgery to ensure everything goes perfectly, but this would take more time. The father insists on proceeding with the surgery in Urumqi, arguing that time is of the essence. Lin Hao lies in his hospital bed, preoccupied with thoughts of the competition, but the harsh reality forces him to wait for the surgical outcome and rehabilitation process.
Unfortunately, during the surgery, Lin Hao suffers severe blood loss, and the doctors issue a critical condition notice, causing the entire family to feel an instant surge of dread.
The Starry Sky Camp project is also facing difficulties; the villagers have invested money but are seeing minimal returns, leading many to confront Hao Qiang for explanations. Hao Qiang sincerely pleads for another chance, promising to refund the rent in full if conditions do not improve.
Xi Lin grapples with family pressure, torn between following her family's wishes and the warmth of the Big Fortress. Hao Qiang feels helpless as he too searches for answers.
Fortunately, Lin Hao's surgery is ultimately successful, but the cost may be that he has to say goodbye to motorcycle racing forever. His father is pained for his son and begs the doctors to temporarily withhold this harsh reality, as motorcycles are not just Lin Hao's dream but a vital part of his life. However, the exorbitant costs of treatment and rehabilitation leave the father in distress. He initially underestimated these expenses and rejected his wife’s suggestions, but now finds himself at a loss.
He tries selling collectibles but only manages to raise three thousand yuan, adding to his frustration. Gu Cheng Feng, the team leader, offers assistance but the investors refuse to renew the contract, citing its expiration, and compensation is minimal. Gu Cheng Feng can only provide twenty thousand yuan personally, which is hardly sufficient for Lin Hao's future.
Seeing the situation, Ha Li Ke becomes furious and attempts to hit Gu Cheng Feng with a pillow, but Lin Hao’s father intervenes just in time. Lin Hao feels deep disappointment as a racer, realizing his worth seems to be just twenty thousand yuan. Shen Di's appearance brings him some comfort, even though he worries about burdening her and tries to send her away. However, Shen Di insists on staying because she understands that Lin Hao needs her.
Upon learning about Gu Cheng Feng's attitude, Lin Hao’s father is enraged and storms to the team, smashing his helmet against Gu Cheng Feng in a display of frustration over the team's injustice.
