Episode 22 recap: The Start of the Xinjiang Rally

In episode 22, Lin Hao, having recovered physically, joins Ha Li Ke in motorcycle training. He is now more composed than before, no longer blindly chasing extremes. Instead, he has learned to listen to his body and understands the importance of a steady approach. Hao Qiang brings exciting news that the final showdown will take place in Daba, filling everyone with enthusiasm and confidence for the upcoming race.

Amid this excitement, Ha Li Ke finds renewed motivation. After discussing with Hao Qiang, they decide to name their team "Daba Great Sea Motorcycle Team," symbolizing their determination to forge ahead on the vast racetracks.

The horn for the Xinjiang Rally officially sounds, and Gu Cheng Feng showcases his strong abilities, winning the first stage. However, the second stage faces a sudden weather change, necessitating a last-minute change to the checkpoint. Xi Lin remains calm, quickly organizing the team for a safe relocation, much to Hao Qiang's relief. They agree that once the race is over, they will plan for the future, as both harbor bigger dreams and aspirations.

Unfortunately, Lin Hao faces a physical setback during the race, prompting him to reflect on Shen Di's earlier question: What would he do if he could no longer ride? At that time, Lin Hao had passionately declared his intention to ride until the age of 65, the age of the oldest competitor in the Dakar Rally, and he vowed to make motorcycling a lifelong passion. For him, riding is life, and he cannot imagine a day without it. Thus, despite his body's warnings, Lin Hao grits his teeth, adjusts his mindset, and pushes on. Although his performance suffers, he still gives it his all, reaching the finish line just before the deadline.

Shen Di is well aware of Lin Hao's physical condition, having learned from the doctor that the intense competition poses a significant risk to him. Nevertheless, she chooses to support Lin Hao's decision, repeatedly urging him to prioritize safety.

As they enter the fourth stage, known as the "Devil's Stage," the danger surpasses expectations. Lin Hao's body signals distress once again, but he perseveres with sheer willpower, only to face a fall. In this moment of despair, Ha Li Ke, having missed a checkpoint, discovers Lin Hao on his way back. When Ha Li Ke suggests calling for help, Lin Hao firmly refuses, unwilling to hold the team back. Ha Li Ke insists that he won't abandon any teammate, and together they decide to finish the race, with Ha Li Ke towing Lin Hao's bike.

At that moment, their finish time becomes irrelevant; the deep bond of brotherhood and camaraderie they share becomes their most treasured asset. Faced with reality, Lin Hao makes the difficult decision to withdraw from the race. The doctor warns him that ignoring his health could lead to paralysis. In the meantime, Ha Li Ke becomes a lone warrior fighting on.

Lin Hao weeps in the embrace of Ai Er Ken, fully aware that his body cannot sustain his dreams any longer, yet the feelings of regret and unfulfillment weigh heavily on him. Ha Li Ke is also deeply impacted by Lin Hao's situation, beginning to question himself, as his once-burning passion seems to vanish overnight.

For him, the race is no longer just about competition; it is now filled with confusion and fear. He contemplates repeatedly but struggles to grasp the true meaning of the race. Nevertheless, this experience strengthens their bond and prepares them to face any challenges ahead with greater resolve.
