Episode 3 recap: The Jujube Festival Kicks Off
In this episode, Xi Lin is surprised to see Ha Li Ke suddenly take the initiative to help prepare for the Jujube Festival. Just yesterday, he was upset about his workshop being occupied, so this change in attitude catches her off guard. Xi Lin realizes that his enthusiasm likely stems from the promise that he can ride a motorcycle at the festival, which eases her worries since she has been concerned about his safety on the bike.
Meanwhile, Lin Hao's family is going through a tough time. His father, who operates a steam train, has been working overtime to prepare for a tour group showcase. Unfortunately, he suffers a heart attack from the stress. Upon hearing the news, Lin Hao rushes to the hospital, only to find Shen Di there by coincidence.
The situation becomes more complicated when Hao Qiang, despite contributing $5,000 from his own pocket, still finds that there isn't enough money for protective gear. This dilemma weighs heavily on everyone. When Xi Lin goes to update Hao Qiang, she inadvertently learns about this issue and realizes that the motorcycle performance cannot go on without the proper gear.
After discovering that his father was forced to work overtime, Lin Hao confronts his boss, but the response is dismissive, as the boss believes that since nothing serious happened, it isn't a big deal. Furious, Lin Hao almost loses his temper, but his coworkers manage to hold him back. In the midst of this, Ha Li Ke approaches Lin Hao, asking him to teach him how to perform jumps on the motorcycle. Seeing Ha Li Ke's sincerity, Lin Hao agrees, but he makes it clear that whether Ha Li Ke learns or not depends on his own effort.
Confident in his abilities, Ha Li Ke believes he will have no problem learning from Lin Hao. Fortunately, Hao Qiang eventually finds a solution for the protective gear, and everyone feels it’s worth the effort, as they are all committed to making the Jujube Festival a success.
However, when it comes time for Lin Hao to teach Ha Li Ke the jumps, things go awry. Ha Li Ke falls off the bike—thankfully, he's fine, but the motorcycle is damaged, and both of them receive a stern reprimand from Aierken.
As for Shen Di, she wants to be involved in the Jujube Festival as well, so she brings a proposal to discuss with Hao Qiang and the others. She notices that attracting sponsors for the festival isn't going well but is eager to try since it could be profitable. Ultimately, the work she takes on is both challenging and demanding, and she has to pay a $50,000 deposit, which leaves her feeling somewhat uneasy.
On the opening day of the Jujube Festival, the town is bustling with excitement, and everyone is immersed in the festive atmosphere. Lin Hao's mother also attends the event, but he deliberately avoids her, as the emotional scars from feeling abandoned by her have yet to heal.
During Ha Li Ke's motorcycle performance, the first half is thrilling and earns him loud applause. However, in the second half, something goes wrong with the bike; it makes strange noises and the brakes fail. The situation quickly escalates, creating a tense atmosphere as everyone watches in concern.
