Episode 5 recap: Kunhai Rally Race Held
In Episode 5, Sheng Lin fondly reminisces about her past with Lin Hao, feeling deep regret over her decision to leave him. She has witnessed the struggles Lin Hao faced while working hard in Shenzhen. Every year, she meticulously prepares a birthday gift for him, trying to maintain her connection, but each time, Lin Hao gently declines, returning the gift unopened.
Upon learning of Lin Hao's passion for motorcycles, which he hasn't been able to own due to financial constraints, Sheng Lin decides to gift him a motorcycle. She pleads with Shen Di to ensure Lin Hao accepts it, suggesting that if he truly doesn’t want it, he can treat it as a loan to be paid back when he’s able. This gesture serves both as an apology and a blessing.
Moved by Sheng Lin's heartfelt intention, Lin Hao's eyes well up with tears. He insists on writing a promissory note to give to her via Shen Di, expressing his gratitude while adhering to his principles. Shen Di, observing this exchange, feels a pang of envy, reflecting on the complex emotional ties between Lin Hao and Sheng Lin, while silently lamenting his own loneliness after losing his parents.
Meanwhile, Botta brings up Buick's inquiry about a tour group project, recognizing it as a potential business opportunity that could provide Shen Di with a stable source of income, creating a win-win scenario for both parties. On the training ground, Harry and his team sweat through their practice, surrounded by enthusiastic children whose cheers add vitality to the scene.
Hao Qiang and Xi Lin engage in conversation; Xi Lin moves from confusion to understanding why motorcycles are a significant feature here. Hao Qiang shares his impressions of Shenzhen, with its towering skyscrapers and rapid development, which leaves him in awe. He emphasizes that the most valuable aspect is the unquenchable spark in the eyes of the youth, with Xi Lin being one of them.
Harry's team analyzes past rally race footage, acknowledging the gaps in their equipment and technology. He encourages his teammates to closely observe and learn from their competitors. Confident about his own bike, Harry believes it’s sufficient without major modifications. Meanwhile, Shen Di takes the initiative to refurbish a classic 212 model, earning praise from Zhao, who is fond of military themes.
As the rally race approaches, Harry and his team gear up, with Hao Qiang and the villagers coming to send them off, expressing their hopes and reminding them to stay safe. At the race venue, Shen Di's team is also busily preparing, with Botta admitting that this is his first foray into rally race planning, and everything is still exploratory. Niu Ju's arrival brings affirmation, commending Shen Di for his hard work, to which Shen Di humbly attributes the success of the rally to Niu Ju's support and leadership.
The Harry team achieves great results in the rally, with Limu winning second place, bringing joy to everyone. Although Lin Hao feels a sense of loss, he acknowledges Limu's strength, realizing that despite his humble beginnings, he can still strive for excellence. The next day, Shen Di anxiously searches for a lost necklace to commemorate his parents' memorial day, finding timely help from Lin Hao.
Simultaneously, the Limu family celebrates the good news broadcasted on television, joy radiating from them. However, their happiness is short-lived; during the next day’s race, Limu faces an accident and falls. Seeing this, Lin Hao rushes forward, filled with concern, and picks Limu up, his eyes filled with sorrow. In a critical moment, an ambulance rushes in, buying precious time for Limu's treatment.
