In Episode 10, Cao Yan Bing announces that external issues have been resolved and it's time to have a serious talk with Xia Ling about family matters. He bluntly asks Xia Ling to hand over the map, claiming he needs it to find the Bodhi tree on Yulin Street. Once the tree lights up, a ninja will come to cause trouble, and he plans to take that opportunity to retrieve the Linghua branch. Xia Ling, feeling loyal, insists that she will handle it, especially since Xuan Liang is guarding Luocha Street and Cao Yan Bing is now a wanted man, making delivery safer for her.
However, Cao Yan Bing disagrees and tries to snatch the map from her. Just then, their roommates return home and walk in on the two of them in a very awkward situation. After some thought, Cao Yan Bing decides to complete his special training first, as he still needs to retrieve his gear left in the Spirit Realm.
When Xia Ling hears about the "gear," she thinks to herself that it's just some useless junk. They head back to the training ground, a forest that was bustling with activity yesterday but feels eerily quiet today. Once the training is over, to celebrate, Cao Yan Bing and Xia Ling enjoy some grilled fish and drinks while exchanging gifts.
Xia Ling, knowing that Cao Yan Bing is uncomfortable without his general’s chain, gives him a necklace engraved with "Fire General." In return, Cao Yan Bing gifts Xia Ling a spirit garment that can conceal the aura of her guardian spirit, so even the general’s chain wouldn’t detect it. They agree to meet at Yulin Street at midnight the next night.
As Xia Ling sets off alone for Yulin Street, she is confronted by two drunken men, seemingly attracted by her beauty. Just as she plans to summon Li Xuan Yuan, Cao Yan Bing appears like a knight in shining armor and takes care of the drunks. Upon reaching Yulin Street, they discover the entrance is a manhole cover, prompting Xia Ling to joke that it feels like a scene from Super Mario.
Once inside Yulin Street, when Cao Yan Bing inquires about the Bodhi tree, people react fearfully, as if they’ve seen a monster. They shout in a tavern, causing everyone to flee except for a local know-it-all named Bai Jingxuan. Bai Jingxuan informs them that the Bodhi tree is located in Mingjing Village, a forbidden area surrounded by a stone formation.
Mingjing Village has a notorious reputation, said to be overrun with demons, and there was a major incident five years ago that left the residents of Yulin Street wary of even mentioning it. Curious about whether there are ghosts in Soul Town, Xia Ling asks, and Cao Yan Bing chuckles, saying that with him around, ghosts won't dare to come. It’s normal for people to refer to the unknown as demons.
As they walk, they encounter a group of boys bullying a little girl. Without hesitation, Cao Yan Bing ties up the boys, but the little girl manages to escape. Unexpectedly, she collapses while running, crying out "Bai Shimen," suggesting there is more to her story.
