Episode 13 recap:

In Episode 13, Cao Yan Bing quickly pulls Xia Ling aside, urgently explaining that they need to retreat strategically and leave at once. Xia Ling looks puzzled, thinking that General Men has stabilized the situation and wonders why they need to run. Cao Yan Bing whispers to her that there’s something off about the killing intent in General Men’s eyes. Xia Ling contemplates and suggests that if they hadn’t accidentally hurt Shui Er, perhaps General Men wouldn’t be acting this way.

Cao Yan Bing reflects on the injury on Shui Er’s hand, muttering to herself that it looks like it was caused by something akin to a BCG vaccine. She then pulls out a compass, instructing Xia Ling to find a safe place to rest until nightfall. Meanwhile, Xia Ling is still preoccupied with the toiletries back in Mingjing Village, murmuring to herself.

As night falls, Shui Er, Gou Er, and the villagers gather under the Bodhi tree. Lord Nan Yu uses the tree’s power to help everyone revert from their transformations. The villagers express their gratitude, thanking him for saving their lives once again.

Cao Yan Bing and Xia Ling sneak back to their room. Xia Ling, wanting to show off her strength, kicks the door open only to trip and get her foot stuck, which turns into quite an embarrassing moment. Cao Yan Bing gently pulls the door open, and they unexpectedly find Fubu taking a bath. Fubu panics and quickly uses a water technique to escape. Xia Ling shouts to chase after him, but her fuller figure gets stuck in the doorframe, creating yet another humorous situation. With a wry smile, Xia Ling recalls Gui Fu Santong’s words, realizing the Kingdom Organization is indeed targeting the Bodhi tree, and they need to hurry back to Mingjing Village. However, Cao Yan Bing disagrees.

Meanwhile, General Men plays a recording for Lord Nan Yu, mentioning that the Cao family doesn’t have a great reputation. However, Lord Nan Yu believes that Cao Yan Bing doesn’t seem like a bad person, considering the Cao family has guarded the Ling Huai tree for generations and has no reason to destroy it.

Suddenly, Xia Ling feels a sharp pain in her shoulder; she’s been poisoned and soon collapses. Fortunately, Li Xuan Yuan arrives just in time to help her extract the poison. While they manage to stabilize her, the wound still requires treatment. Cao Yan Bing is troubled, pondering how Mingjing Village and the outside world each label the other as a land of demons, yet the Soul Guardians of Yulin Street are so concerned about the villagers of Mingjing. There must be something more to this situation.

As the Bodhi tree is about to bear fruit, Fubu worries that Cao Yan Bing might interfere, but Zi Wei is unbothered, believing that Bei Luo Shi Men will handle things well. Cao Yan Bing takes Xia Ling to seek help from Bai Jing Xuan, who explains that he’s not a doctor and can’t treat her. Cao Yan Bing recounts their experiences in Mingjing Village and inquires about Lord Nan Yu’s identity and why he doesn’t live in the village. Bai Jing Xuan clarifies that Lord Nan Yu is the leader of the Ling Jia Army on the mountain.

Although Bai Jing Xuan can’t directly help Xia Ling, he points her in the direction of a clinic, advising Cao Yan Bing to follow the address written on a piece of paper. Cao Yan Bing nods in thanks, mentally planning their next steps.
