While Xia Ling is lost in thought, staring at the blank ancestral decree in her room, Shui'er wakes up, demanding water. Xia Ling quickly pours water for her, but just as she’s about to feed it to her, Bei Luo Shimen and Nan Yufu enter. Startled, Xia Ling drops the decree onto Shui'er's bed, but she quickly hides it away.
Nan Yufu advises Xia Ling to return to the human realm, mentioning that something significant will happen in Mingjing Village tonight, and he worries he won't be able to protect her. Feeling like a burden and realizing she doesn't fit into the realm of spirits, Xia Ling decides to go back to school.
