In Episode 3, there are ancient records about the Spirit Realm dating back to the time of Qin Shi Huang, who even sent people to Penglai Island in search of immortals...This place is said to hide a secret passage to the Spirit Realm The air in the Spirit Realm is harsh for ordinary people, but curiously, a few who accidentally entered adapted to it and underwent remarkable changes, eventually settling there and becoming spirit beings
Xia Ling finds everything about the Spirit Realm fascinating. Cao Xuanliang gives her a book, suggesting that once she finishes it, she’ll have a solid understanding of the Spirit Realm.
Next, we learn about Chilian Street, which is next to the infamous Luosha Street. Its guardian was unfortunate enough to be harmed by a ruthless character from the kingdom, Knight Helkamp. Originally, Helkamp targeted Luosha Street but decided to take over Chilian Street instead. Before leaving, he also stole the guardian’s general chain as a trophy.
Cao Xuanliang’s cooking skills are lacking, resulting in a table full of questionable dishes. Xia Ling has to force herself to eat, relying on her imagination, and pretends to be full. Seeing Cao Xuanliang, so young, burdened with household chores makes her heart ache, so she offers to help. He explains that his brother, Cao Yan Bing, never takes care of these things, leaving everything to him.
When the conversation shifts to their parents, Cao Xuanliang's demeanor darkens. He points to a family photo on the wall, sharing that shortly after it was taken, their parents died in a car accident. At that time, Cao Yan Bing wanted a figurine of the Pirate King, but their father thought it was too expensive and didn't buy it. This left Cao Yan Bing in a gloomy mood, even during the photo shoot. Eventually, their father agreed to buy it, but tragically, he died in an accident on the way home, leaving only Cao Yan Bing alive.
The Spirit User mourns the death of General Cao and announces that Cao Yan Bing will take over as the guardian of Luosha Street, fully responsible for its affairs. Overcome with regret, Cao Yan Bing throws the Pirate King figurine into the fire in a fit of anger.
He vows to protect the weak, and his first spirit guardian, Yu Jin, pledges to stay by his side no matter what. However, a year later, a group of vicious spirit beings attacks, resulting in the sacrifice of Xiao Rou and the heroic death of Yu Jin.
Cao Xuanliang senses a malevolent presence approaching and warns Xia Ling to stay home. He mentions Uncle Zuo, who was killed by Helkamp. Just then, Cao Xuanliang’s spirit guardian, Tang Liuyu, appears.
Helkamp knows Tang Liuyu well, describing him as a blind, eight-armed mantis with exceptional hearing and expertise in hidden weapons. Tang Liuyu was once a traitor to the Tang Clan, committing heinous crimes but later vanished from the scene, making him a formidable character.
Helkamp orders his subordinate, Izumi Yoshihiro, to fight Tang Liuyu while he attacks the Spirit Huai Tree. He is caught off guard by Xia Ling’s presence, mocking Cao Xuanliang for his youthful desire to be a hero.
Cao Xuanliang realizes that Tang Liuyu is no match for Yoshihiro and can only silently pray for his brother’s return. According to the rules, if a spirit user and their guardian are separated by too much distance, both will become weaker, putting Cao Xuanliang in a tough position.
Just as Yoshihiro prepares to strike Cao Xuanliang, he unexpectedly kneels. Seizing the opportunity, Cao Xuanliang attempts to counterattack, but his dagger misses Helkamp. Instead, he gets wounded by Helkamp’s dagger. As Helkamp revels in his success and prepares to strip Cao Xuanliang of his spirit guardian, Xia Ling urgently summons her own guardian, Li Xuan Yuan, turning the tide of the battle.
