In Episode 4, Xia Ling hurriedly calls for her guardian spirit but unexpectedly fails to summon it. Just as Heil Kamp is gloating, Cao Yan Bing returns in time and angrily slaps Heil Kamp several times. Cao Xuanliang reminds Cao Yan Bing that Heil Kamp is connected to a group from over a decade ago, and their goal is to seize Cao Xuanliang's guardian spirit and the important spiritual Sophora tree.
It turns out that Heil Kamp is just a minor player in a large organization. He claims to know very little. Cao Xuanliang warns Cao Yan Bing not to be fooled by Heil Kamp's sweet talk, as Heil Kamp's guardian spirit is said to be Shimazu Yoshihiro. Just as he finishes speaking, Shimazu Yoshihiro appears, and Cao Yan Bing immediately takes Heil Kamp hostage. However, to his surprise, Shimazu Yoshihiro is not Heil Kamp's guardian spirit.
Next, Cao Yan Bing is struck by Shimazu Yoshihiro's hammer and collapses. While unconscious, he seems to see his own guardian spirit, Xu Chu, and calls out for him to engage in battle. Soon, Xu Chu defeats Shimazu Yoshihiro.
At that moment, the Sophora tree miraculously sprouts a new branch, and the ninja god Hattori Hanzo suddenly appears to take the new branch, then sets the Sophora tree on fire. The flames from the burning tree connect two worlds, causing a massive uproar. Xia Ling receives a call from her mother asking if she has seen the unusual phenomenon in the sky. Meanwhile, Gui Fu Santong arrives with an axe to put out the fire, prompting Xia Ling to hurriedly end the call. Cao Yan Bing mistakenly believes Gui Fu Santong is responsible for destroying the Sophora tree and demands compensation. To his astonishment, Gui Fu Santong genuinely offers all his money as compensation.
Realizing he made a joke, Cao Yan Bing is surprised when Gui Fu Santong takes it seriously. He then presses Gui Fu Santong about his true purpose for being there.
Gui Fu Santong explains that summoning a guardian spirit is a significant burden on the host's body, especially for someone like Cao Yan Bing, who has never summoned a spirit before. Symptoms include bloodshot eyes, nosebleeds, and eventually fainting. Shortly after hearing this, Cao Yan Bing faints. When he wakes up, he hears noise in the living room and rushes out with a weapon, only to find Cao Xuanliang and Gui Fu Santong playing a game. He pretends to be calm and asks about Xia Ling, learning that she is out dining with her parents.
Cao Yan Bing takes Gui Fu Santong to the yard and reminisces about the Sophora tree, only to find it reduced to ashes. Gui Fu Santong laments Cao Yan Bing's ignorance about the tree and reveals that the Spirit Realm is also artificially created. Xia Ling is curious and bombards Gui Fu Santong with questions, which he struggles to answer. He explains that his disguise is meant to hide his true identity, revealing that Xia Ling died in a car accident but was saved by her guardian spirit.
Xia Ling is confused about why anyone would want to harm her. Gui Fu Santong explains that she is a rare host spirit. He also warns them to be cautious of an extremist organization called "The Kingdom," which specializes in capturing hosts and forcing them to join.
Meanwhile, Xia Ling is dining with her parents, and her mother brings up matchmaking, showing her a stack of photos. Gui Fu Santong continues to discuss the history of the Spirit Realm, pointing out that spiritual trees like the Sophora were planted by spirit users to control the expansion of the realm, with the Sophora being the most crucial. The appearance of new branches on the Sophora tree last night was unprecedented, and Hattori Hanzo took the new branch, which is key to restoring the tree. Gui Fu Santong offers to help Cao Yan Bing retrieve the branch, but Cao Yan Bing is only concerned about the peace of the Soul Town and shows no interest in saving the world, even asking Gui Fu Santong to leave.
Gui Fu Santong questions whether Cao Yan Bing will also ignore the killers of his friends and guardian spirits, prompting Cao Yan Bing to reflect deeply and inquire about Gui Fu Santong's true identity.
