In Episode 6, Li Xuan Yuan was initially unaware that the malevolent energy in the Qingfeng Transformation was unique to the Spirit Realm. At that moment, with both his and Yuan Xiang's lives hanging by a thread, a thought sparked hope within him—if he could become an Otherworldly Being, he would not only survive but also become Yuan Xiang's guardian spirit, potentially curing her chronic affliction. Thus, Yuan Xiang naturally became a vessel for his spirit, while Li Xuan Yuan, bound by the Heart-Locking Chain and preoccupied with Yuan Xiang, could only silently wait in the depths of the spirit realm for the moment when he and Xia Ling would connect mentally and the chain would dissolve.
Xia Ling promised Li Xuan Yuan that she would work hard to break the constraints of the chain.
One morning, Xia Ling woke up in her dorm to her classmates discussing the bizarre events from the previous night—someone had mysteriously disappeared and then returned, but she had no memory of the experience; only a companion could confirm its truth. A sense of unease began to rise within her.
Cao Yan Bing was hesitant about Xia Ling's involvement, worrying that if the Heart-Locking Chain broke, she might be unable to control the hidden power within her. However, Gui Fu San Tong believed this was an opportunity for growth, stating that the guardian spirit and the vessel were meant to support each other through challenges. He reassured Cao Yan Bing that everything was predestined.
After hearing this, Cao Yan Bing challenged Gui Fu San Tong to a duel, proposing that their actions would depend on the outcome. Just as tensions escalated between them, a call from Cao Xuan Liang interrupted their unresolved conflict, urging Xia Ling to return quickly. Cao Yan Bing and Gui Fu San Tong agreed that if Cao Yan Bing won, they would set off immediately; if Gui Fu San Tong won, they would wait for Xia Ling's return.
Before the duel officially began, Xia Ling hurried in and firmly opposed their quarrel over her. She insisted that their decisions should respect her wishes.
When discussing Xia Ling's father's accidental entry into the Ghost Street, Gui Fu San Tong explained that the air in the Spirit Realm is deadly for beings from the human world. Although the two realms share some air, prolonged exposure inevitably leads to death.
After hearing this, Xia Ling resolutely decided to embark on the journey. Although Cao Yan Bing was reluctant, he accepted her decision but warned her that the Ghost Street was far from the peaceful human realm; it operated under the law of the survival of the fittest. He proposed that if Xia Ling could withstand one of his attacks, he would allow her to join him. Xia Ling agreed, and they summoned their guardian spirits. Li Xuan Yuan faced off against Xu Chu, winning decisively, but in the process, Xia Ling lost consciousness.
Returning to his room alone, Cao Yan Bing gazed at Yu Jin's armor, his thoughts drifting back to childhood. He and Xiao Rou had been childhood sweethearts, but an attack by Otherworldly Beings had destroyed their home and taken Xiao Rou's life. Yu Jin had fought valiantly, ultimately sacrificing himself to save Cao Yan Bing.
Gui Fu San Tong quietly erased Xia Ling's memory of these events, knowing that Cao Yan Bing understood the need to let go of the past to embark on their journey. With everything prepared, Cao Xuan Liang inquired about their departure, but Cao Yan Bing decided to leave him behind. He explained that he wouldn’t let Xia Ling join because her powers were untested, while Cao Xuan Liang, being stronger, was better suited to protect Ghost Street. He handed over the General Chain to Cao Xuan Liang, officially naming him the new master of Ghost Street.
