Episode 12 recap: Tang Yang and Jiang Shi Yan's Relationship Blossoms
In Episode 12, Tang Yang lifts her head from the phone and is surprised to see Jiang Shi Yan! He smiles and walks toward her step by step. Tang Yang feels a rush of happiness; this is the man she has always admired, someone she’s only ever seen as a friend. Now, Jiang Shi Yan has come to spend the New Year with her. With tears in her eyes, she watches as he pulls out a magic wand from his pocket—just as they had promised years ago. Tang Yang had casually mentioned her fondness for magic wands, and Jiang Shi Yan remembered, bringing her one every year since.
Tang Yang asks Jiang Shi Yan if he won’t be at the office for New Year’s, but he confidently replies that he only wants to be with her. Fireworks explode in the dark sky, mirroring the blossoms in Tang Yang’s heart. Standing side by side, they silently watch the fireworks, feeling that this moment is truly special.
Jiang Shi Yan then invites Tang Yang to the office for the New Year’s Eve dinner. Sheng Nina sees them together and finally realizes that Jiang Shi Yan has feelings for Tang Yang. After greeting Jiang Shi Yan with her assistant, Sheng Nina leaves, allowing Jiang Shi Yan and Tang Yang to enjoy the New Year’s meal with Feng Wei Ran and Cheng Hui.
Having been together since middle school, this group feels like family. After dinner, they follow the old tradition of writing down their wishes on slips of paper. Jiang Shi Yan reflects on how happy their school days were, but he feels just as happy now, since they still see each other every day. Feng Wei Ran and his wife take Jiang Shi Yan and Tang Yang to hike for the sunrise, where the couple shares a bit of their love story. Tang Yang can’t help but feel envious of how quickly they came together and had their adorable little one.
Feng Wei Ran believes everything fell into place naturally, always following their hearts. Jiang Shi Yan nods in agreement, expressing that the happiest thing in life is transitioning from being soulmates to becoming lovers.
Tang Yang turned in surprise to look into Jiang Shi Yan's eyes and saw a serious expression on his face. Several times, she felt that Jiang Shi Yan had a place for her in his heart, but she couldn’t tell how much of it was just friendship or some romantic ambiguity. This uncertainty made her hesitant to reach out.
Feng Wei Ran and his wife left early, leaving Tang Yang and Jiang Shi Yan to wait for the sunrise together. The air was cool and refreshing, and Jiang Shi Yan took off his jacket to drape it over Tang Yang. They cherished this moment of solitude.
As the first light of dawn spread across the land, Zhou Mo finished the last bottle of beer and clumsily sat up. He carefully wiped the name on the tombstone. He had spent New Year's Eve here, staying until the early hours of the morning, finding solace only in this place. After ringing in the New Year, Jiang Shi Yan called to invite Tang Yang to the office for a game of cards. Even though Tang Yang was terrible at cards, with Jiang Shi Yan's help, she actually won a few rounds, which made her very happy.
When Jiang Shi Yan's mother heard about the "Leftover Food Competition" at her son's office, she enthusiastically began preparing. Normally a mediocre cook, she surprisingly became quite serious in the kitchen and managed to make sushi balls. Jiang Shi Yan was excited when his mother invited him to taste her new dish, only to hear her on the phone say that half of what she made went to the dog and the other half was for Jiang Shi Yan.
As the New Year approached, Jiang Shi Yan heard that employees were taking leave to spend the reunion dinner with their families. Suddenly, he realized he hadn’t shared a New Year’s Eve dinner with Tang Yang yet. This reminded him of many years ago when his mother was hospitalized. It was Tang Yang who hurried to the hospital to keep him company and brought him food. At that moment, he truly felt that Tang Yang was someone who had entered his life for a reason.
