Episode 18 recap: Tang Yang Gets Jealous Hearing Jiang Shi Yan's Rumors
In episode 18, Tang Yang attends a long-awaited class reunion where everyone gathers and naturally reminisces about old times. The atmosphere becomes a bit charged with the presence of Chang Xinyi, leading everyone to jokingly discuss her brief romance with Jiang Shi Yan during school, even teasing Tang Yang about whether she knows the story.
Meanwhile, Jiang Shi Yan is in a nearby room preparing a fruit platter, completely unaware of the conversation happening around him. Tang Yang, feeling confused, thinks to herself that after years of focusing on her PhD studies and being geographically distant from them, she wouldn't know these little details. She smiles and shakes her head, indicating she has no idea, which seems reasonable.
Feng Wei Ran interjects, likening that romance to a summer breeze—quick to come and quick to go, with no further development afterward. Tang Yang listens, feeling an inexplicable pang of jealousy. During dinner, she watches as Jiang Shi Yan and Chang Xinyi engage in lively conversation, leaving her feeling sidelined while she downs one beer after another.
Chang Xinyi and Tang Yang are polar opposites: one is gentle and feminine, while the other is laid-back and prefers androgynous clothing. Tang Yang reflects that perhaps she really has encountered a "rival," but then reassures herself that she and Jiang Shi Yan have been close friends for years. If they were meant to be, they would have ended up together by now.
Deciding to be generous, she suggests that Jiang Shi Yan drive Chang Xinyi home while she takes Feng Wei Ran's car to leave. After dropping off Chang Xinyi, Jiang Shi Yan finds himself thinking about Tang Yang and decides to head back to her.
By the time Jiang Shi Yan arrives, Tang Yang is already home, trying to drown her sorrows in front of a potted plant. His presence makes her a bit hazy, and she half-jokingly starts asking about Chang Xinyi. Jiang Shi Yan repeatedly denies anything serious, but under Tang Yang's relentless questioning, he jokingly calls her his "little sun."
Tang Yang, amused and teary-eyed, drags Jiang Shi Yan to the bathroom and points at the ceiling light, saying, "Look, that's the little sun!" This leaves Jiang Shi Yan both amused and exasperated.
As the night wears on, Tang Yang, increasingly tipsy, rambles from questions about first loves to first kisses, finally insisting that Jiang Shi Yan kiss her. But before she finishes her sentence, she falls into a deep sleep. Jiang Shi Yan, wanting to continue their tender moment but adhering to propriety, lays out a mat beside her and stays by her side throughout the night.
The next morning, the smell of breakfast rouses Tang Yang. She opens her eyes to find Jiang Shi Yan has prepared a warm meal for them to share. However, their peaceful moment is soon interrupted by Jiang Ya Nan's arrival. It turns out that Feng Wei Ran, without consulting anyone, plans to sell their marital home to buy a property in the city center, causing Jiang Ya Nan to storm off and seek refuge at Tang Yang’s place.
Feng Wei Ran, frantic, calls repeatedly asking Tang Yang to help persuade Jiang Ya Nan to come home. This series of events turns what started as a simple reunion night into a complex and delicate situation, quietly drawing Tang Yang and Jiang Shi Yan closer together, deepening and complicating their feelings for each other.
