Episode 22 recap: Zhou Mo Begins to Pressure Tang Yang
In Episode 22, Zhou Mo grows anxious as his project remains unapproved by Tang Yang. Upon hearing that Tang Yang is on leave to take care of Jiang Shi Yan in the hospital, he decides to visit her there. When Tang Yang sees Zhou Mo, she immediately understands his intentions but claims she is busy taking care of Jiang Shi Yan and suggests discussing work when she returns from her leave.
Zhou Mo insists on waiting until Tang Yang is free to talk. After all, they are seniors, and Jiang Shi Yan encourages Tang Yang to focus on her tasks, assuring her that he can manage on his own. Jiang Shi Yan then invites Tang Yang for coffee nearby, where he expresses his confidence that if conditions are right, the bank will approve their funding quickly. Zhou Mo, however, is looking for some favorable policies, while Tang Yang is wary of any under-the-table dealings, wanting to keep things transparent.
Zhou Mo coldly reminds her of how Huishang Bank had initially shortlisted sixty candidates for written exams and then narrowed it down to thirty for interviews, ultimately hiring only five. Tang Yang, who was the fifth candidate, is taken aback when Zhou Mo mentions that at the time, the bank was primarily hiring men. Zhou Mo then reveals that he had secretly helped her by leveraging his uncle’s influence to secure a position for her, which allowed Tang Yang to join the bank.
Zhou Mo challenges Tang Yang to reconsider her situation: despite being the youngest management trainee at Huishang and the only female deputy director, is that really what she calls being transparent? Tang Yang is shocked to learn that her entry into the bank was facilitated in this way. Meanwhile, Jiang Shi Yan, feeling uneasy while waiting in the hospital room, steps out to find Tang Yang. Upon seeing her red-eyed and lost as she exits the elevator, he immediately hugs her and reassures her not to fall for Zhou Mo’s schemes. He reminds her that she had eleven banks offering her positions, and it was her choice to go with Huishang, not the other way around.
With Jiang Shi Yan's encouragement, Tang Yang feels much better. Her previous fears of being directionless dissolve. They spend some time together nearby, and as the evening breeze blows, Tang Yang’s spirits lift. She can't help but wish time would stand still. Jiang Shi Yan reflects on how Tang Yang used to tutor him in school and wishes to keep that bond forever. However, he also contemplates the future, thinking about how painful it would be if Tang Yang were to become someone else's wife.
Eventually, he realizes that if he can marry Tang Yang, they can be together always. Now that Tang Yang and Jiang Shi Yan have transitioned to being a couple, they often find themselves interrupted by little details when trying to share a kiss. Jiang Shi Yan feels a bit disappointed, but Tang Yang playfully urges him to go home and rest.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ya Nan and Feng Wei Ran are unaware of the budding relationship between Jiang Shi Yan and Tang Yang. However, their own relationship has recently improved, especially after Feng Wei Ran learns that Jiang Ya Nan dislikes spicy food and sweet coffee. Feeling guilty for always catering to Jiang Ya Nan’s tastes, she takes the initiative to invite him out to eat. Jiang Ya Nan decides to adjust their interaction style, and Feng Wei Ran wholeheartedly agrees with her suggestion.
