Episode 4 recap: Jiang Shiyan Gives Tang Yang Lipstick
In Episode 4, Li Ya's departure is a significant blow to Jiang Shiyan's company. While the company's fan base had been steadily growing, it has now dropped out of the top ten. Seeing other food streamers embark on competitive challenges, Jiang Shiyan decides to give it a try as well.
Tang Yang's bank is highly competitive, with the team facing daily big and small targets. Each day brings new challenges, and while eating instant noodles, Tang Yang catches a glimpse of a colleague inappropriately touching a female co-worker's hand through the window, making her feel uneasy.
On a typical day, Tang Yang would chat with Jiang Shiyan, but when her mother starts setting her up on blind dates, Tang Yang feels overwhelmed. She quickly calls Jiang Shiyan for help. Her mother, who usually focuses on finding quality single men for her daughter, has also developed a passion for card games and often seeks advice from Jiang Shiyan's mom, lamenting her poor skills and weak mental fortitude.
Recently, Sheng Nina has been hounded by paparazzi, leading to various gossip articles about her. Whether it's about gaining weight or being out of work, she’s becoming known as a fading star. After leaving her residence and heading to the underground parking lot, she encounters a paparazzo trying to take her picture, sending shivers down her spine.
Upon arriving at the office, Sheng Nina runs into someone else wearing a black hoodie in the elevator. She becomes cautious, crossing her arms and watching the stranger's every move. The hooded figure turns out to be Cheng Hui, an engineer from her company who rarely speaks but is highly skilled. He usually handles technical upgrades and editing tasks.
At that moment, Cheng Hui is scanning a QR code with his infrared testing glasses at the advertising display, which angers Sheng Nina, as she misinterprets his actions as another attempt to photograph her. She loudly warns him against taking pictures and demands he delete any photos he may have taken. Cheng Hui finds her reaction puzzling and chooses not to engage further. As he tries to leave, Sheng Nina mistakenly thinks he’s using a spy device and attempts to remove his glasses.
It isn’t until they walk into the office and someone greets Cheng Hui that Sheng Nina realizes her mistake. By then, his glasses have already broken. She offers to buy him new ones, but Cheng Hui, annoyed, tells her they aren't even available for purchase yet.
Later that evening, Jiang Shiyan's mother pesters him about improving his emotional intelligence. She learns that Tang Yang has returned to her hometown and decides to prepare a dish called "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall," hoping to invite Tang Yang over to try it. Curious about what Tang Yang is up to, Jiang Shiyan buys her favorite velvet cake to bring along.
When Tang Yang receives Jiang Shiyan's call, she is surprised that he wants her to come downstairs so late, especially with such a childish excuse. Jiang Shiyan expresses his gratitude for Tang Yang's loyalty during a recent incident involving a stray dog and presents her with a small gift to make up for it.
When Tang Yang reaches Jiang Shiyan's car, she is pleasantly surprised to find that he has given her a lipstick. This marks the first time she has received high heels and lipstick as gifts, both from Jiang Shiyan. Excited, she tries on the lipstick shade and finds it perfect. That’s Jiang Shiyan for you—always has an eye for the right choice!
