Episode 11 recap: Huang Bei Shuang Proposes the Climate Chapter to Na Zhan
In Episode 11, Na Zhan quietly waited by the river, hoping the fish would bite, but the water was eerily calm. He pondered that perhaps the most dangerous places might also be the safest. Observing this, General Wu suggested secretly transferring the troops protecting the library to the temple, taking advantage of the open terrain to capture the bandits.
Meanwhile, Zhen Qu You Jia was feeling uneasy. She worried that Huang Bei Shuang’s cooking skills were rapidly improving; if she surpassed her, the throne would be in jeopardy. So, she quietly instructed Xiao Lian to send a message to her father, seeking some assistance.
Huang Bei Shuang hadn’t seen Huo Qing Yun for several days and began to wonder if she had offended him in some way. Ye Pei reminded her not to forget about the cooking competition, sparking an idea. Huang Bei Shuang thought of the rich resources in Yun Pei and sent Lian Huan to the kitchen to gather information. She also took the opportunity to apologize to Na Zhan, expressing her belief that the horse-root tree was unsuitable for Yun Pei due to a lack of knowledge about the climate chapter, which hindered her research.
Na Zhan readily agreed to provide her with the climate chapter, but only if she first mastered the herb chapter. Ge Xin Wei developed a keen interest in the roster of Zui Xiang Lou and planned to manage it anew. Ruo Wen, noticing Ge Xin Wei’s confidence, worriedly advised her not to overreach, insisting she didn’t want to be a burden.
Ge Xin Wei, smiling, offered to help Ruo Wen with her hair, pointing out that she could hardly take care of herself. At that moment, Man Hu brought news that the guards at the Yun Pei armory were weakest during the shift change at the hour of Hai, making it the perfect time to act. Ruo Wen jokingly asked Ge Xin Wei if she was interested in the armory, but Ge Xin Wei shook her head, stating she had more important matters to attend to at the brothel.
Relieved, Ruo Wen entrusted Ge Xin Wei with managing the brothel, instructing her to turn it into Huang Tian Kuang’s secret base in Yun Pei. Sha Qu discovered the news about the increased troop presence at the temple, and Huo Qing Yun sensed something was amiss, especially given Na Zhan’s unpredictable style of operation. Thus, he ordered a halt to the investigation of the temple.
Meanwhile, Ruo Wen’s people had stealthily looted the armory, deliberately leaving behind empty crates to buy some time.
Man Hu discovered that the Wangfu had increased its troop presence and urged Ruo Wen not to take any risks. However, Ruo Wen was determined to find Huang Bei Shuang.
After waiting at the entrance of the Wangfu for a long time, Ruo Wen noticed the heavy guard and realized that a direct approach would be impossible. Just then, he overheard a servant mentioning that he was going to fetch the royal chef. Seizing the opportunity, Ruo Wen tied up the servant and disguised himself as the chef to sneak in. When Zhen Qu You Jia saw that Ruo Wen was alone, she complained about her father’s incompetence and decided to personally test his cooking skills.
Ruo Wen showcased his impressive knife skills right in front of Zhen Qu You Jia, earning her enthusiastic praise. Meanwhile, Huang Bei Shuang intended to go to the library to prepare recipes for the cooking competition, but unexpectedly ran into Huo Qing Yun. Shortly after, Na Zhan and General Wu entered, discussing the need to interrogate Old Rong, but Na Zhan intervened.
He turned and opened a secret mechanism to enter a room in the library, a moment that Huo Qing Yun witnessed. Zhen Qu You Jia asked Ruo Wen to make lamb soup, but Ruo Wen was unfazed and instead sought out Huang Bei Shuang, demanding that she leave the Wangfu with him.
Huo Qing Yun, harboring her own concerns, was displeased with Huang Bei Shuang’s attitude, prompting her to instruct Lian Huan and Ye Pei to seal off the secret passage in the room. Although Huo Qing Yun warned Huang Bei Shuang to stay away from Ruo Wen, she didn't take it to heart and deliberately said some provocative words, which left Huo Qing Yun feeling uncomfortable.
As night fell, Huo Qing Yun, disguised, stealthily re-entered the library, followed closely by Ruo Wen. Huo Qing Yun used a secret code to contact Old Rong, who was thrilled to see him and declared that even sacrificing himself would be worth it. Just as Ruo Wen was pondering how to open the room's mechanism, he suddenly heard commotion outside and quickly concealed himself.
As Huo Qing Yun prepared to evacuate with Old Rong, they were surrounded by General Wu's men inside the library.
