Episode 19 recap: Huang Bei Shuang Ends Her Relationship with Huo Qing Yun
In Episode 19, a spy from Tiandu receives word to help Zhan Bie get close to Huo Qing Yun. He recommends Zhan Bie to Liu Qi, who, under the pretense of being Huo Qing Yun's older brother, brings in a famous doctor and has Zhan Bie pose as the doctor's assistant. Huo Qing Yun discusses a plan with Sha Qu to stage a performance for Liu Qi, intentionally pretending to be gravely injured and bedridden.
Zhan Bie seizes the opportunity to draw a dagger, but Huo Qing Yun reacts quickly and stops him. Zhan Bie accuses Huo Qing Yun of killing his mother, brandishing a Mang Liu token as proof. Huo Qing Yun insists he did not kill her and asks who is behind Zhan Bie's actions. Zhan Bie refuses to believe him, and just then, Liu Qi stabs Zhan Bie from behind, killing him instantly before he can say another word.
Liu Qi is furious; he never expected Huo Qing Yun to escape unscathed once again. Huo Qing Yun suspects Zhan Bie was acting on orders from that Zhan, and Rong Lao worries that Zhan may have other plans in motion. Sha Qu discovers that Gu He's weapons were supplied by Yun Pei, who has promised to support Gu He in seizing nearby tribes, planning to share the spoils three ways. Taking advantage of the chaos in Beimo, Yun Pei aims to annex surrounding tribes.
Huo Qing Yun learns that Yun Pei intends to relocate E Na Qi to southern deserts and plans to keep them all there. That Zhan receives confidential reports confirming Huo Qing Yun's survival and reprimands Liu Qi for being incompetent. Huang Bei Shuang is concerned for the E Na Qi people, but That Zhan claims his troops and E Na Qi have been detained by Tiandu and shifts the blame onto Huo Qing Yun, stating he must negotiate with Yun Pei.
That Zhan will not agree and would rather abandon these people. Huang Bei Shuang, identifying herself as Yun Pei's wife, requests troops to go to Tiandu and bring the E Na Qi people out. That Zhan urges her to think carefully, suggesting it would be best if she could return with Huo Qing Yun's head. Huang Bei Shuang personally leads her soldiers to Tiandu, while That Zhan sends someone to track her, ordering that she may be executed on the spot if necessary, hoping to find Huo Qing Yun's weakness and see who might act out of true feelings.
Ruo Wen wears a dress made by Ge Xin Wei, who is delighted upon seeing it. The Wolf Leader informs Ruo Wen that the opportunity has come, as Huang Bei Shuang is leading a team toward Tiandu.
Huo Qing Yun asks Sha Qu to send a message to Huang Bei Shuang, expressing his desire to meet her. He goes alone to Yun Pei's camp and shares his feelings of longing for Huang Bei Shuang. She believes he shouldn’t be there and advises him not to let emotions cloud their negotiations the next day. Huo Qing Yun bursts into the tent, insisting that his feelings for her are genuine.
Huang Bei Shuang refuses to acknowledge her own feelings. Huo Qing Yun forcefully pins her down and kisses her, but she remains unmoved. In pain, he gets up and has a horse ready to take Huang Bei Shuang back.
On the day of the negotiations, the two parties meet. Huo Qing Yun insists on keeping Huang Bei Shuang, but she threatens him with the lives of her horses, demanding that he fulfill his promises and return her farewell letter. Pressured, Huo Qing Yun produces their token of love and cuts it into pieces, to which Huang Bei Shuang declares they will never see each other again.
After returning, Huo Qing Yun turns to alcohol to drown his sorrows, shocked by Huang Bei Shuang's hatred for him. Meanwhile, Huang Bei Shuang reflects alone, recalling their promises, feeling a deep sadness. Rong Lao comforts Huo Qing Yun, advising him not to force matters, as he understands that his fate with Huang Bei Shuang has come to an end. He feels helpless due to his greater responsibilities.
Rong Lao warns him not to reveal his vulnerabilities to That Zhan, reminding him of the past incident involving the switch of a child, An Er, who has already died for him. Huo Qing Yun remembers An Er, learning that he has a plum blossom mark on his left shoulder, and asks what it looks like. Rong Lao sketches it, and upon seeing it, Huo Qing Yun believes An Er is still alive, recalling that he saw the same mark on Ruo Wen's left shoulder.
Meanwhile, Huang Bei Shuang returns to her tent only to find herself surrounded and taken hostage by the Huang Tian Kuang troops. Liu Qi, feeling anxious without the military power of Tiandu, suggests to a eunuch that they lure Huo Qing Yun to Yun Ci Spring to take action against him. Aware of the eunuch's collusion with Liu Qi and That Zhan, Huo Qing Yun pretends to be unaware and instructs Sha Qu not to alert them.
