Episode 3 recap: Huo Qing Yun Rescues Huang Bei Shuang Multiple Times
In Episode 3, Huo Qing Yun jumps into the water to save Huang Bei Shuang. When she wakes up, she learns that she had a fever last night, but fortunately, Huo Qing Yun was there to take care of her. This brings a hint of unspoken tension between them. Huang Bei Shuang expresses her gratitude, and Huo Qing Yun brushes it off, saying it's just a way of repaying her for the water she gave him.
Huo Qing Yun returns the "Great Desert Scroll" to Huang Bei Shuang, hoping to strike a deal to help her save someone. Meanwhile, Huang Bei Shuang is planning to return to the Dead Wind Zone. After a passionate encounter, Ge Xin Wei and Ruo Wen wake up, but Ruo Wen shows indifference, believing that the attention he received was not because Huang Bei Shuang had left.
Ge Xin Wei isn't upset; instead, she bites him on the back to mark him as hers. Ruo Wen pulls out Huang Bei Shuang's hairpin, and Ge Xin Wei deliberately provokes him by saying he hasn't been rejected by a beauty yet. Ge Xin Wei realizes that the person who escaped is Huang Bei Shuang and wants to stall Ruo Wen to allow Huang Bei Shuang to return and rescue the other slaves.
She openly claims to be the Princess of Ma Sui and asks Ruo Wen to escort her back to the city in exchange for the treasures of the underground palace. Ruo Wen watches her closely, suspecting that she is leading him into a trap, but Ge Xin Wei remains unconcerned. Huo Qing Yun brings Huang Bei Shuang to meet Elder Dong, claiming to be his friend and wanting to present a gift.
Elder Dong scrutinizes Huang Bei Shuang and orders his men to kill Huo Qing Yun and keep Huang Bei Shuang, but Huo Qing Yun proves to be no match for them. Ruo Wen decides to take Ge Xin Wei to Ma Sui, leaving his men to guard the village, knowing that Huang Bei Shuang will likely return to save others.
When Ge Xin Wei asks why he isn’t bringing his men, Ruo Wen confidently replies that he is enough on his own. Huo Qing Yun instructs Elder Dong’s men to bury explosives, assuring Huang Bei Shuang that they can handle it since Ruo Wen is absent, and gives her the detonator.
Huo Qing Yun disguises himself as Elder Dong's second-in-command, expressing a desire to ally with Huang Tian Kuang. Man Hu had previously tied up Duo Zai to show Huo Qing Yun's sincerity. Huo Qing Yun offers Huang Bei Shuang as a gesture of goodwill, but Man Hu insists he cannot make that decision and must consult Ruo Wen. He then tells Huo Qing Yun to kill Duo Zai to prove his sincerity.
Huo Qing Yun didn't hesitate to draw his knife, but Huang Bei Shuang rushed forward to shield Duo Zai, scolding him. Huo Qing Yun pushed her aside and aimed the dagger at Duo Zai. Huang Bei Shuang wouldn’t back down, and Huo Qing Yun pretended to target her, but was stopped by Man Hu, who invited him to join for a drink. Seizing the opportunity, Huo Qing Yun stealthily took the cell key and handed it to Huang Bei Shuang.
Huang Bei Shuang was locked in the cell and learned that most of their companions had been killed. She instructed the other slaves to stay close to her, while Duo Zai discovered he was still alive. Just as Huo Qing Yun was enjoying drinks with Man Hu and the others, Guo Er exposed them as a group, prompting Man Hu and his companions to heighten their guard. Elder Dong's men triggered the explosives, and Huo Qing Yun led Huang Bei Shuang and the others to escape, but Duo Zai was struck by an arrow in the back.
Ge Xin Wei intentionally led Ruo Wen in circles, wondering if Huang Bei Shuang and the others had managed to escape. Ruo Wen suspected Ge Xin Wei was up to something, believing she couldn’t possibly be unaware of the way home. Before dying, Duo Zai urged Huang Bei Shuang to use her intelligence to reclaim everything and not to be consumed by desire. Huang Bei Shuang, heartbroken, wept and sang a farewell song for Duo Zai.
Seeing that only she and Er Na Qi had escaped, Huang Bei Shuang resolved to go to Yun Pei alone to complete her mission. Lian Huan and Duo Er were willing to follow her to protect Er Na Qi. Huang Bei Shuang gifted the "Great Desert Scroll" to Huo Qing Yun, hoping he would ensure her safe passage to Yun Pei and promised to fulfill his conditions.
However, Huang Bei Shuang was injured by an arrow and in poor condition. She suggested that Lian Huan and Duo Er go to Yun Pei first to deliver the transit disc, promising that they would catch up afterward. Huo Qing Yun helped Huang Bei Shuang onto a horse and asked her why she was so determined to go to Yun Pei. Huang Bei Shuang revealed that she felt unwelcome in Ma Sui and Tian Du. Huo Qing Yun deliberately probed further, recalling that Duo Zai had referred to her as the Ninth Princess.
As Man Hu and his men closed in on Huang Bei Shuang, Huo Qing Yun led her into a cellar. Huang Bei Shuang praised his knowledge of the desert. As Man Hu's men approached the cellar, Huo Qing Yun held her tightly to protect her.
