Episode 5 recap: Farewell Between Huang Beishuang and Huo Qingyun

In Episode 5, when discussing the defense map of Masuicheng, Ge Xinwei's curiosity gets the better of her. She snatches it up to study closely, joking that she rarely leaves her home and has never seen such confidential material. However, Ruo Wen, half-jokingly, picks up a knife to scare her, clearly doubting her claims. Suddenly, a group of people appears, attempting to forcibly take Ge Xinwei away. Ruo Wen stands by, seemingly as a bystander. In a moment of quick thinking, Ge Xinwei shouts Ruo Wen's name for help, which proves effective—the intruders, hearing her call, quickly apologize and scatter. Afterward, Ruo Wen's expression darkens as he sternly warns Ge Xinwei not to joke about such matters again.

Meanwhile, Huang Beishuang stands beneath the wishing tree, leaning against Huo Qingyun, filled with gratitude. She softly expresses her thanks for Huo Qingyun's protection and companionship throughout their journey, hinting at her reluctance to part ways. Suddenly, Huo Qingyun, overwhelmed with emotion, kisses her passionately, only to be pushed away by Huang Beishuang. He declares his willingness to help her and the Enaqi tribe, but Huang Beishuang knows the weight of her responsibilities and declines his offer. Yet, in the next moment, she draws closer to Huo Qingyun and accepts his kiss, as if to draw a line under their past. Huo Qingyun tightly holds her hand, promising that they will meet again in the future. Afterward, Huang Beishuang turns to leave, and Huo Qingyun, overwhelmed by emotion, coughs up blood and collapses.

When Huo Qingyun wakes up, he learns that Huang Beishuang has left him a letter. Sha Qu hands him the letter, filled with Huang Beishuang's deep feelings and reluctance, expressing her hope to rekindle their connection in a future life. Huo Qingyun, upon reading it, feels a mix of emotions.

Following their agreement, Huang Beishuang arrives at Yunpei. She carefully gathers a handful of soil into a pouch, leaving Ye Pei puzzled. Huang Beishuang simply smiles and asks her to wait patiently.

Afterward, Huang Beishuang changes into a new outfit and stealthily enters the East Palace of Yunpei. Upon discovering this, Huo Qingyun rides in a panic, calling out Huang Beishuang's name as he returns the "Great Desert Scroll" to her. However, she does not turn back; instead, Lian Huan accepts it on her behalf. Watching Huang Beishuang’s resolute departure, Huo Qingyun's heart aches, and he again coughs up blood.

During the marriage ceremony, princesses from various tribes present their credentials to the lord of Yunpei, Na Zhan. Among them, the princess of the Zhenqu tribe, Youjia, captivates everyone's attention with her grace and beauty. She offers rich tributes and voluntarily lowers her status to express her loyalty and respect for Yunpei.

When it’s Princess Mizhan's turn to meet, Huang Beishuang suddenly appears, asking Lord Zhu for leniency. She claims to be from the distant North Desert Enaqi and wishes to see Na Zhan. Despite Lord Zhu's reprimands and attempts to drive her away, Huang Beishuang resolutely threatens to harm herself, ultimately earning the chance to meet.

Upon meeting Huang Beishuang, Na Zhan is intrigued by her courage and determination. When Na Zhan questions her, Huang Beishuang states that regardless of receiving a title, she will lead the Enaqi tribe in loyalty to Yunpei. Na Zhan offers to find her a better match, but Huang Beishuang declines politely, stating that if the marriage fails, she is willing to remain unmarried for life. To demonstrate her sincerity and talent, she offers to perform a dance.

Her dance, the Phoenix Rebirth, not only astonishes the audience but also impresses Na Zhan. While Na Zhan admires her skills, she also realizes the spectacle is enhanced by chemical powders. Yet, none of this can overshadow Huang Beishuang’s bravery and determination, as she earns respect and recognition in her own right.
