Episode 12 recap: Sorong Pays in Full for the Gongba Sheep
In this episode, Tashi has been busy with work and hasn't returned home for a while. One day, Tuden, feeling concerned for his son, decides to bring him some food at the hospital. Upon arriving, he finds Tashi exhausted and asleep in a chair. Tuden quietly sits beside him, keeping him company until Tashi wakes up naturally. However, before they can share much conversation, a patient in bed six, Peng Yang, suddenly takes a turn for the worse. Tashi rushes to the emergency room and works tirelessly through the night until the surgery is a success.
Watching the emotional reactions of the patient’s family, Tashi feels a mix of satisfaction and sadness. Tuden observes all this from outside, feeling both proud and pained, realizing that his son is much more capable than he had imagined.
Meanwhile, Sorong, wishing to thank everyone for their help in finding the Gongba sheep, hosts a meal. He sets a rule: no serious discussions, just drinks. During the gathering, Ashley notices a woman who isn’t recovering well after giving birth and offers to check on her. She even suggests sending her some Tibetan medicine since her father is a Tibetan doctor.
After the meal, everyone gathers around the fire to dance the lively Zhamunian dance, creating a festive atmosphere. A Wang, watching from the side, runs into Sorong and learns about his difficulties in acquiring the sheep.
Having had a bit too much to drink, Sorong worries A Wang, who seeks out Ashley to understand the situation better. A Wang apologizes for his previous behavior and expresses a genuine desire to assist Sorong.
Ashley believes that despite their misunderstandings, the two are fundamentally good friends, so she agrees to ask Sorong about A Wang’s intentions.
Back in their room, Ashley advises Sorong to drink less to protect his health and not let it interfere with his responsibilities. When Sorong learns that A Wang came to see him, he decides to meet with him.
Their conversation reveals that A Wang has suffered losses in his building materials business and wants to start fresh. Seeing A Wang’s sincerity, Sorong forgives him and asks for his help in finding the Gongba sheep.
Meanwhile, Gesang and Nanga are having a great time washing horses. Gesang, being a girl, doesn’t mind getting her clothes wet. Seeing her carefree attitude, her older brother Jiumei takes off his jacket to cover her and decides to find her a place to stay.
Tashi, still in the hospital's break room, decides to stay and continue monitoring Peng Yang due to the severity of his condition. This experience deeply impresses upon him the responsibility and connection between doctors and patients, yet he still feels more drawn to Tibetan opera and lacks confidence in his medical career. Doctor Yin Wei encourages him, saying that once he has chosen this profession, he must commit fully and earn the respect that comes with wearing the doctor’s white coat, diligently caring for each patient.
That night, after drinking too much again, Sorong returns home with A Wang's help. Ashley learns that they bought ten sheep from Zhu Jie and plans to retrieve them the next day. Early the next morning, Zhu Jie arrives with the sheep, and Wangdu reminds Sorong to be cautious to avoid being cheated. Sorong seizes the opportunity to announce his sheep acquisition plan to the villagers: 2,000 yuan per sheep, with a minimum weight of fifty jin, limited to two hundred sheep.
To ease everyone’s concerns, Sorong pays Zhu Jie the full amount on the spot, surprising Ashley. However, she reminds him that he only has a deposit for two hundred sheep and will need to borrow another 300,000 yuan to pay in full. Sorong believes the money isn’t a problem; the key is to gather all the sheep. Unfortunately, when the weight is checked, none of the ten sheep meet the required standard, which leaves him feeling frustrated.
Despite this setback, Sorong does not give up. He is determined to find a way to make this work.
