Episode 15 recap: Qu Zong and Jiu Mei Reflect on the Past
In Episode 15, Jiu Mei delivers some old belongings from their past to Qu Zong, filled with nostalgia for the time when fate cruelly separated them. To prevent any regrets for his sister Ge Sang, he fully supports her pursuit of her dream to become a pilot. Meanwhile, as Suo Lang and Xu Shao Jie are moving furniture from the Sweet Tea House, Suo Lang accidentally injures his back.
Noticing this, Xu Shao Jie immediately offers to help lift the sofa and takes the opportunity to introduce himself. When Jiu Mei sees Xu Shao Jie, she is surprised to discover that he is Qu Zong's fiancé, leaving her with a complex expression, while Ge Sang thinks Xu Shao Jie seems quite invested in Qu Zong.
Despite his back pain, Suo Lang meets with Ashley and sends her a photo of the origin certificate for the Gongba sheep, informing her that Gong Bu has good news: a client is willing to pay a high price, but the certification of the Gongba sheep must be solid. Suo Lang realizes that this money has to be well spent. In the elevator, Ashley quickly notices Suo Lang's injury and urges him to see a Tibetan doctor soon.
Ma Mu Ha excitedly runs over to tell Suo Lang that his father has contacted a meat processing plant in Zhengzhou, known for its top-notch cutting techniques and conveniently located near major transport routes. After looking at photos of the plant, Ashley shakes her head, lamenting that Tibet's market and industrialization still have a long way to go; the supply chain is incomplete, and the cutting market has not yet developed.
However, Suo Lang disagrees, believing that as a major livestock region, Tibet's cutting techniques are an inevitable trend. He encourages Ma Mu Ha to learn from their advanced methods and consider opening an upgraded meat processing plant in Lhasa once the Gongba sheep project stabilizes. Ma Mu Ha, feeling inspired, promises to take action once the project is secure.
Next, Ci Dan warmly invites Xu Shao Jie to her home and tentatively asks if he could arrange a more relaxed leadership position for her. Xu Shao Jie doesn't respond to that but becomes fascinated by an intricately embroidered cushion on the table, which turns out to be the handiwork of Ci Dan's mother, a master of embroidery.
Curious if Ci Dan can also embroider, Xu Shao Jie learns that she had studied it as a child but didn’t continue because she found it tedious. While Xu Shao Jie expresses regret, Ci Dan feels that it's not worthwhile for men, unless Yang Jin also joins, in which case she might consider it.
While registering in the community, Jiu Mei and Ge Sang unexpectedly run into Qu Zong and Xu Shao Jie. An awkward tension fills the air as Xu Shao Jie senses the unusual bond between Qu Zong and Jiu Mei. Qu Zong takes Xu Shao Jie to a teahouse to watch Tibetan opera and recounts her past with Jiu Mei. In their senior year of high school, Qu Zong decided to drop out to help support her family by taking over the Sweet Tea House.
She and Jiu Mei developed feelings for each other through their shared love for Tibetan opera. However, fate intervened—an agreed-upon meeting was missed, and stern advice from Coach Luo led Jiu Mei to choose equestrianism instead, gaining accolades but losing Qu Zong in the process. Xu Shao Jie feels a mix of emotions, believing their relationship was more about mutual support during difficult times.
Jiu Mei confides in Ge Sang that he has never forgotten Qu Zong, and this reunion stirs a whirlwind of feelings in him. Just then, Coach Luo appears, inviting Jiu Mei to participate in a competition again, but he doesn’t respond immediately.
The next morning, Suo Lang and Za Xi discover that the steamer has not been lit and rush upstairs to check on Grandma Yu Zhen, learning that she hadn’t slept the night before. While Ashley is busy at the Tibet Food Quarantine Office, she receives a thank-you call from Gong Bu's wife. Gong Bu then visits, anxiously informing them that the original certification has been lost. Suo Lang emphasizes its importance, leading Gong Bu to realize the seriousness of the issue and suggest they try to replace the documents to avoid harming the cooperative's credibility.
Meanwhile, Ashley unexpectedly encounters her mother, Qiao Yanru, igniting her suspicions. She quietly follows her to the People’s Hospital, filled with confusion and worry.
