Episode 16 recap: Tuden Encounters Two Surprises
In Episode 16, Ashley takes the initiative to contact Suo Lang about potential factory collaboration. Suo Lang responds that he has found a suitable factory and invites her to visit it the next day. Coincidentally, this conversation is overheard by Qiao Yanru, who happens to be passing by her daughter's room.
The following day, Suo Lang and Ashley visit the slaughterhouse. The owner explains that it's currently off-season, so there aren't many orders, and he shows them a video of the slaughtering process. However, Suo Lang is dissatisfied with the precision of the rib cutting, feeling it doesn't meet their standards. He then thinks of the skilled Ma Mu Ha. Accompanied by Ashley, they head to Ma Mu Ha's butcher shop.
At first, Suo Lang is disappointed by Ma Mu Ha's cutting speed and quality. However, when Ma Mu Ha steps in to showcase his exceptional skills, both are impressed—it’s exactly what they are looking for.
But challenges arise: handling 200 sheep is a significant task for Ma Mu Ha alone. Turning back to factory collaboration means incurring high costs. Suo Lang explains that their goal isn’t to focus on quantity but to enhance the brand influence of the high-quality Gangba sheep through a streamlined supply chain. While Gangba sheep are well-known, they lack market recognition, which is a critical issue they need to address.
Ma Mu Ha understands Suo Lang's vision, but as a third-generation butcher, he has his own considerations regarding profitability. He hesitates to involve his son in an uncertain entrepreneurial venture. Ashley suggests that while tradition is valuable, it must adapt to changing times. After careful thought, Ma Mu Ha decides to help connect them with an off-site meat processing plant to address their immediate needs.
After resolving their issues, Suo Lang and Ashley take a break to enjoy some cold noodles by the street, only to unexpectedly run into Qiao Yanru again. Meanwhile, Qu Zong learns that his brother is short on funds for his startup and generously offers an emergency loan of 20,000 yuan. However, this gesture leads to misunderstandings within the family, as Tu Deng mistakenly believes Suo Lang is eyeing their sweet tea shop and vows to take control of the finances.
Feeling down, Suo Lang is pulled by Za Xi to go drinking, where Za Xi offers to support him. Suo Lang can only smile wryly, explaining that all the money is with his father. On another note, Qiao Yanru’s cooking surprises Pu Bu, who later discovers the property deed and insists she won’t leave Tibet, wanting to stay connected with her deceased son’s spirit. This declaration deeply wounds her daughter and fills Qiao Yanru with regret.
To raise more funds, Suo Lang decides to rent out his home. Ashley learns of this and volunteers to help with the design, emphasizing the importance of blending modern and traditional elements while retaining Tibetan style. Initially skeptical of Suo Lang's business, Tu Deng begins to reconsider, seeing that Ashley's involvement might bring positive influence.
Meanwhile, Jiu Mei is helping her sister find a place and quickly takes a liking to Gaji Courtyard. Despite Suo Lang's stringent rental conditions, a chance encounter with her first love, Qu Zong, ignites her enthusiasm, leading her to decide to sign the rental agreement immediately. Qu Zong tries to dissuade her, but seeing that the decision is already made, he reluctantly steps back.
Jiu Mei moves in with her sister and greets Qu Zong, hinting at unresolved feelings between them.
