Episode 2 recap: Suo Lang's Entrepreneurial Struggles with Friends

In Episode 2, Suo Lang returns to the small office where they previously started their business. He lights a butter lamp in front of the sign for "Sun City Trading Co., Ltd." and prays, still puzzled about why the other company suddenly canceled the contract. Just then, Sangjie and Ma Mu Ha arrive excitedly with supplies to celebrate, but when they learn that the contract hasn’t been finalized, they can’t help but feel discouraged.

As the legal representative and project leader, Suo Lang reassures everyone that he will take full responsibility and that no one will lose money, no matter what happens in the future. He emphasizes that, despite challenges, he won’t give up easily, especially with plenty of chili peppers and honey still in stock.

Once the others leave, Xu Shaojie approaches Suo Lang and expresses surprise at his decision to give up a government job for entrepreneurship. Suo Lang has many thoughts he wishes to share; he knows that the truly popular products don’t belong to Tibet. Many are merely marketed under the guise of being Tibetan, while authentic Tibetan products, like Lang County chili peppers and Chayu honey, receive little attention and have very few buyers.

Because of this, Suo Lang wants to promote Tibet through his own business and prove himself, even if he has chosen the most difficult path. Xu Shaojie supports his decision and takes him back to the dorm to rest. While there, Suo Lang sees Xu Shaojie’s military photo and learns why he chose to enlist; Xu Shaojie explains it was a youthful decision to follow what he thought was the best path.

Additionally, Suo Lang confides that his older sister may have a romantic interest and is even considering marriage. Unbeknownst to him, the person she likes is Xu Shaojie. Suo Lang thinks it’s good that his sister has someone, but he hopes it’s not a greasy uncle with a receding hairline. Alarmed by this comment, Xu Shaojie rushes to the bathroom mirror, fearing he might become the "greasy man" his future brother-in-law speaks of.

The next morning, heavy rain leaves Tu Deng in a bad mood. Once the rain clears, neighbors in Gaji Courtyard gossip about Suo Lang not returning home the previous night, speculating that the conflict between Tu Deng and Suo Lang won’t be resolved anytime soon. Wang Mu and Yang Jin advise their children to learn from Suo Lang’s mistakes, while Gongga bluntly states that filial disobedience is the greatest sin. However, Grandma Yu Zhen counters this, insisting that parents aren’t always right.

On the other side, Suo Lang is waiting in the underground parking lot, hoping to have a serious conversation with Ashley and find out why the contract was canceled. He wants to understand the situation clearly. Ashley explains that she was severely let down by her partner because A Wang bribed President Huang with a $2,000 gas card, which led to an investigation by the corporate headquarters.

After this incident, Ashley warns Suo Lang that business partnerships require rules, and once those rules are broken, it’s hard to recover. Originally, Tu Deng planned to go out, but when he saw an acquaintance, he turned back, fearing questions about his younger son’s decision to withdraw from the exam. During a break, Xu Shaojie went to the tea house to help Qu Zong and asked when he should bring up the topic of marriage with the old man. Qu Zong, considering the recent upheaval at home, decided to wait a bit longer. However, Xu Shaojie knew time was running out; he would have to move back in six months.

Later, Tu Deng sought out his old friend Pu Bu Tsering and couldn't help but complain about his children. Pu Bu Tsering chuckled, saying he was a man unaware of his blessings. On the way back, Tu Deng learned from a shop owner that Suo Lang had started his own business two years ago, with Xu Shaojie’s support.

This news made Tu Deng quite resentful towards Xu Shaojie, who noticed Tu Deng's attitude. Meanwhile, Suo Lang approached A Wang directly, but with family members nearby, he didn’t want to make a scene and only inquired about President Huang in private. A Wang admitted to giving President Huang the gas card, intending to secure more insurance with him. Unfortunately, they were unlucky, and the group discovered it before the contract was signed.

Although A Wang didn’t see the bribe as a big deal, Suo Lang felt that his underhanded behavior harmed everyone involved. Disappointed, he left A Wang’s house.
