Episode 21 recap: Everyone Achieves Happiness
In Episode 21, the Gangba sheep products were launched as scheduled and sold out instantly, much to the delight of Ma Mu Ha and the others. Even Tu Deng took the initiative to message Suo Lang, expressing his pride. Since the Nanka Tibetan Opera Troupe and the Gongbu Danzeng Tibetan Opera Troupe were set to collaborate, Tu Deng invited his youngest son, Za Xi, to perform a scene with him. Za Xi was thrilled and couldn't wait to share the good news with Grandma Yu Zhen. However, when he found her lying on the sofa, she seemed to have lost consciousness.
That night, a solemn and heartfelt Tibetan funeral was held at the Gaji courtyard. The air was filled with the faint fragrance of cypress and a subtle sadness. Men, women, and children donned colorful Tibetan robes and held white khatas as they lit butter lamps for Grandma Yu Zhen, remembering the kindness she brought to the Gaji courtyard.
All the costumes for the Nanka Tibetan Opera Troupe were repaired, especially the king's costume, which had a moldy patch that was expertly mended by Cidan. His embroidery skills, inherited from his family, had improved, and he had also become more diligent, naturally taking on the role of class leader in the training sessions. However, Cidan felt a bit shy amidst everyone's compliments.
Xu Shao Jie completed his five-year service term and, not wanting to face the farewell scene, quietly packed his things to leave. As he stepped outside, he was surprised to find many community residents gathered with their phones illuminated, ready to personally send off Secretary Xu. Leading the group were Tu Deng and others, who were all reluctant to see him go, but Xu Shao Jie’s thoughts were solely on Qu Zong.
In fact, Qu Zong watched from a corner, tears in her eyes as she turned to leave. On the train back home, Xu Shao Jie discovered a Gawu box wrapped in yellow cloth among the items Tu Deng had given him. This was Qu Zong's dowry from her mother. In a letter, Qu Zong expressed her gratitude for Xu Shao Jie’s presence in her life. Even though they couldn’t become a couple, she promised to keep a light burning for him in her heart, praying for him every time she passed by the Potala Palace.
As Xu Shao Jie read the letter, memories flooded back, and he couldn't help but hug his knees and weep. The collaborative performance of "Baimawenba" by the Nanka Tibetan Opera Troupe and the Gongbu Danzeng Tibetan Opera Troupe proceeded as planned, attracting a steady stream of locals and tourists. Tu Deng's children, along with Ashley’s family, Director Yin Wei, and the Ge Sang siblings, all attended.
Before going on stage, Za Xi felt a bit anxious but managed to overcome it by looking at the live photos taken by Ge Sang. Father and son performed together, leading to a triumphant success for the show.
Everyone came backstage to offer their congratulations. Director Cang Se revealed to Ge Sang that the patient on bed six, Peng Yang, had been referred to Za Xi by Yin Wei, helping Za Xi find meaning and responsibility in his role as a doctor.
Meanwhile, Jiu Mei got ready in her outfit and prepared to compete in the sports event, chatting and laughing with Coach Luo. Ge Sang happily participated in the pilot recruitment, and Za Xi placed a handmade bird in her backpack to encourage her to bravely soar into the sky. Suo Lang successfully negotiated a partnership with his boss, making Ma Mu Ha and Basang extremely excited.
At that moment, Suo Lang received a text from Ashley, and joyfully took her on a "date" to the potato shop. Ashley informed Suo Lang that the Good Life Network had decided to officially launch a selection process in Tibet, and she had applied to transfer to the Tibet branch, allowing them to work side by side in the future.
However, Suo Lang was a bit surprised and confessed that he had pursued an MBA through a joint program between Tibet University and Fudan University. While working on the Gangba sheep project, he had encountered many confusions and wanted to study more professionally to gain a different perspective under a more mature economy. He had applied to Fudan thinking Ashley would stay in Shanghai, not realizing that she would return to Lhasa for him. They both rushed towards each other yet unexpectedly missed their connection.
When Suo Lang asked Ashley if she knew why he chose Fudan University, she playfully responded that Fudan was in Shanghai, and they shared a smile. In the end, Xu Wenjie returned to Lhasa, happily embracing his beloved Qu Zong.
A year passed in the blink of an eye. Tu Deng walked with a bouquet of Grandma Yu Zhen’s favorite flowers, returning to the Gaji courtyard under the morning light. The lively Gaji courtyard still held familiar figures; both Suo Lang and Za Xi were there, and Qu Zong was running her sweet tea shop.
Ge Sang had become a pilot, flying a helicopter over the skies of Lhasa and gazing down at the sunlit city.
