Episode 3 recap: Suo Lang Moves Back to Gaji Courtyard
In Episode 3, after a significant event, Suo Lang tells A Wang that they should go their separate ways and no longer have any connections. Determined, Suo Lang vows to continue on his own path. Seeing Suo Lang's steadfastness, A Wang begins to reflect on whether he has made many mistakes. Overwhelmed with emotion, he slaps himself a few times, while Suo Lang walks away, marking the complete breakdown of their brotherly bond.
Za Xi joins a medical team providing volunteer services in the Tibetan region. He performs his duties commendably and receives praise from Dr. Luo Bu, a gastroenterologist. Meanwhile, in the pastoral area, a girl named Ge Sang, filled with dreams, faces ridicule. She stands up to a mocking guy and takes him to bandage his forehead when he gets hurt. After hearing about this, Za Xi criticizes the boy for mocking others, emphasizing that everyone has the right to pursue their dreams and that friends should encourage one another.
Za Xi's supportive words win Ge Sang over, and she invites him to her home for dinner. At Ge Sang's insistence, Dr. Za Xi accepts the invitation and is warmly welcomed by her family. Both her parents and siblings are fond of Za Xi and inquire about Ge Sang’s future studies, but she hasn’t made up her mind yet.
During a private moment, Za Xi encourages Ge Sang to consider going to Lhasa. In return, Ge Sang gives Za Xi a gift, believing he too can find his own light. Meanwhile, Suo Lang is at a friend's market stall trying to sell chili peppers and honey, but no one shows interest, leaving him feeling disheartened. Not wanting to trouble Xu Shaojie, he decides to rest for the night in a storage room.
Xu Shaojie shares his own struggles when he first arrived in the community, trying to persuade Suo Lang to take things slow. He advises him to set aside his ego and focus on identifying key points and people for better results. With the local cordyceps trader having moved away, Suo Lang, with Xu Shaojie's help, sneaks back into Gaji Courtyard to retrieve his belongings but is caught by Tu Deng.
Tu Deng informs Suo Lang that he can move back under the condition that he agrees to continue preparing for civil service exams. However, Suo Lang insists that he is not suited for that path and is determined to pursue entrepreneurship. Angered by Suo Lang's defiance, Tu Deng angrily tells him to leave the house. Unfazed, Suo Lang retreats to his rental home, asserting his right as a resident of the Gaji community.
Just as Tu Deng prepares to confront his son violently, Qu Zong and others rush in to mediate, successfully defusing the tense situation.
That night, Dajie took the initiative to talk to Tu Deng, revealing that the school wanted to modify the repetitive Tibetan opera and hoped to see something new this year. Since the Nanka Tibetan Opera Troupe had never staged "Baimawenba," the principal planned to let the Gongbudan Zeng Troupe give it a try. Tu Deng, upon hearing this news, felt that Gongbudan Zeng was too small a player to take on such a significant role and posed no real threat.
Meanwhile, Sangjie and Ma Mu Ha ran around the streets with their goods, but the vendors were only interested in selling souvenirs to tourists and showed no interest in chili peppers and honey. Suo Lang believed that the key was to leverage a good living network, so he was determined to win over Ashley, though Sangjie and Ma Mu Ha had little hope.
At that moment, the boss asked Ashley for suggestions regarding the selection project in Tibet, and she felt they should focus on one type of selection, specifically high-end quality products. On the other side, Pu Bu's wife, Qiao Yanru, was dancing in the square and took a break to call her husband, learning that their daughter Ashley would be coming home today. Pu Bu was in the kitchen, slow-cooking lamb.
Ashley was particularly fond of Gangba lamb and believed that this specialty meat would attract customers from outside. Despite concerns that Gangba lamb might not perform well in sales, Ashley assured the boss that if they couldn't get it on the shelves for the Tibetan selection within two months, she would resign. Earlier, Xu Shaojie had subtly expressed his thoughts to Tu Deng but was shot down. Thinking about how he and Qu Zong had not yet made their relationship public added to his frustration.
Xu Shaojie went to the tea house to help Qu Zong, only to find that his mother had arranged a blind date for him via WeChat. Coincidentally, Qu Zong saw the message and, distracted, accidentally burned her hand on hot milk tea, which made Xu Shaojie feel very sorry for her. On the rooftop, Xu Shaojie comforted Qu Zong, stating that he would never accept his parents' matchmaking arrangements and would always love her alone. They embraced while watching the sunset in the distance.
