Episode 11 recap: Meng Yunnong's Reluctance to Let Xian Have the Baby
In Episode 11, Xian, ignoring Hui's pleas, is consumed by one thought: she just wants to leave this painful place, no matter who she goes with. Hui, watching Xian's stubbornness, realizes she can no longer change her daughter's mind and can only sigh in silence. That night, Xian feels unwell and repeatedly vomits, prompting Hui to insist on taking her to the hospital.
The test results are a shocking revelation—Xian is pregnant. Faced with this news, Hui strongly opposes Xian keeping the baby, fearing that an unplanned pregnancy could ruin her daughter's life and worrying that it might repeat her own tragic experiences. However, Xian, feeling like her mother blames her for all the misfortunes, becomes even more determined to keep the child.
Seeing Xian’s resolute expression, Hui is moved to tears, lamenting the unpredictability of fate and their similar plights. Meanwhile, Cong waits anxiously at the dock for Xian, but she fails to show up. His colleagues urge him to leave, while Xian hides in the shadows, watching him depart with mixed emotions. Later, back at the office, she instructs her secretary to ensure that if Meng Yunnong calls, he must come to the apartment to see her.
Back in her apartment, the discomfort of early pregnancy leaves Xian looking worn out, yet she forces herself to put on makeup, eagerly anticipating Meng Yunnong’s return. One morning, when she hears a knock at the door, she opens it with hope, only to find Hui. Disappointed, she receives a bowl of chicken soup from her mother, who tries to comfort her, but Xian can’t eat due to her nausea.
Hui once again urges her to consider giving up the baby, believing that under their current circumstances, the arrival of a child would only bring more misfortune. Xian stands her ground, pleading with her mother to either support her or at least not discourage her.
Finally, a letter from Meng Yunnong reignites Xian's hope. He is coming back and promises to visit her. Xian prepares meticulously, looking forward to romantic moments with him, as well as his reaction to the news of her pregnancy. However, as the candlelight flickers, Meng Yunnong is nowhere to be seen, and her hopes dissolve into disappointment.
Late at night, Meng Yunnong arrives quietly. Looking at the sleeping Xian, he feels a surge of affection. When Xian wakes and embraces him tightly, she pours out her feelings of longing and anxiety. Although Meng Yunnong feels guilty for her suffering, when she mentions wanting to have his child, he falls into deep thought. Ultimately, he decides that she should terminate the pregnancy, citing the turbulent times as a reason to prioritize their safety.
Xian cannot accept this, leading to a heated argument between them. Meanwhile, Hui helps Lao Wang in his difficulties, but her generosity inadvertently triggers Xian's sensitivities. Xian's insults towards Lao Wang and her disappointment in Meng Yunnong intertwine, deepening Hui’s concern for her stubborn daughter.
Hui again urges Xian to give up the baby, promising to support her through tough times, but Xian's inner turmoil remains unresolved. Eventually, under Meng Yunnong's insistence, Xian reluctantly agrees to go to the hospital. However, just as the procedure is about to begin, she is overwhelmed by a wave of fear and regret, prompting her to flee the hospital.
As chaos erupts in the streets, people scatter in panic, but Xian seems oblivious to the danger, fixated on returning to the apartment that belongs to her and Meng Yunnong. Meanwhile, Hui anxiously waits at home, unaware of Xian's safety. In the empty apartment, Xian faces the reality of losing the child, filled with a complex mix of emotions.
She realizes that her decision may lead to even more pain and regret, but at this moment, all she wants is to protect the fragile hope and love she has found.
