Episode 15 recap: Xian Gives Up Cong for Zhi
In Episode 15, that afternoon, the sky suddenly darkened, and heavy rain poured down, mirroring the gloom in Xian's heart. When Lao Wang returned home, he sensed the oppressive atmosphere and tried to lighten the mood with casual conversation, but both Xian and her daughter were lost in their own thoughts, rendering his efforts ineffective.
As night fell, Cong, undeterred by the storm, rushed to Xian's house to confess his feelings. He admitted that his earlier retreat was a shock, but after much reflection, his love for Xian had only grown stronger. He was willing to accept everything about Xian and her child. However, Xian felt unworthy of Cong's deep affection and firmly rejected him, even though she appreciated his sincere confession.
Afterward, Xian fabricated a story about Cong moving far away. Hu, upon hearing this, was skeptical and resolutely sought out Cong to verify the truth. She eventually persuaded him to return home and encouraged the two to reconcile, suggesting that Xian go with Cong to Chongqing while she took on the responsibility of caring for the child.
Reluctant for her daughter to repeat past mistakes, Hu's maternal love ultimately swayed Xian, who tearfully agreed. Hu watched them leave, filled with hopes and comfort for her daughter's future.
At the dock, Xian was troubled, unable to shake the image of her child from her mind. In a moment of impulse, she wanted to go back, her attachment to her daughter surpassing everything else. Hu stayed by her side, unwavering in her support. On a rainy day, Xian mistook a shadowy figure in the rain for Cong and called out, but it couldn't bring back that familiar presence.
Hu's gentle reassurances forced Xian to confront reality: Cong was gone forever.
As time passed, Xian gradually recovered under Hu's care. Hu hosted a gathering to celebrate and also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to Lao Wang, bravely asking if he would consider spending the rest of his life with her. Just then, a child's cries interrupted their conversation, and Xian seized the moment to ask Hu to tend to the child, privately advising her to think carefully, believing Lao Wang wasn't a good match.
However, Hu was resolute, confident in her choice, believing Lao Wang was her support for the second half of her life. Lao Wang, aware of Xian's prejudices, didn't want them to affect his relationship with Hu. Instead, he comforted her, urging her not to hold grudges against Xian.
Facing Hu's insistence, Lao Wang proposed a plan to start a business together. Although Hu hesitated, she ultimately chose to support him. Yet, as they struggled to find a place to rent, Hu grew anxious, and their relationship began to subtly shift amid these challenges.
One day, a loan shark came to demand repayment. To protect her home, Hu was willing to fight for it but ultimately had to plead for more time to gather the funds. All of this made the relationship between Xian and Lao Wang more delicate, with late-night encounters filled with unspoken tension and awkwardness.
For this family, the future held both challenges and hopes. Hu's resilience, Xian's tenderness, and Lao Wang's determination would become their collective strength to overcome hardships. Life, after all, would eventually reveal a new dawn following the storms.
