Episode 13 recap: Double Star CP Caught on a Secret Date
In Episode 13, Xu Chengzhou suddenly interrupts the cozy moment between Lu Xingyan and Shen Xingruo. He stumbles in, drunk and looking to confide in Lu Xingyan. Fortunately, he doesn’t realize that Shen Xingruo is hiding in the room. As he surveys the beautifully decorated space, Xu Chengzhou feels a warmth spread through him. Lu Xingyan cleverly fabricates a story, claiming he set everything up to help Xu Chengzhou lift his spirits.
They raise their glasses and drink together, while Shen Xingruo has to hide away in the closet. After a while, when Xu Chengzhou heads to the bathroom, Shen Xingruo plans to sneak out but discovers her T-shirt is missing. Just when she’s panicking, Xu Chengzhou returns with the T-shirt in hand, instantly sobering up as he scans the room, seemingly trying to uncover a secret.
When Xu Chengzhou starts questioning them, Lu Xingyan candidly insists that no matter how others perceive it, his heart belongs solely to Shen Xingruo, and he won’t allow any constraints to hinder their relationship. To defuse the misunderstanding, Lu Xingyan generously promises to buy Xu Chengzhou 30 coveted epic game skins, striking a chord with the gaming enthusiast and leading him to accept the “hush money.”
As the recording of the show continues, the rules dictate that the last remaining guest will leave the stage. Xu Chengzhou realizes his relationship with Chen Zhu has reached its end and decides to say goodbye to Lu Xingyan, preparing himself for elimination. However, an unexpected “chance encounter” orchestrated by the crew changes the course of events—Lawyer Zhai has arranged for Xu Chengzhou’s date to take place at Chen Zhu’s café.
Lu Xingyan feels this might be fate giving Xu Chengzhou a second chance. He arrives with a champagne rose, intending to apologize to Chen Zhu and reignite their conversation. Unfortunately, his good intentions are dashed by a misunderstanding. Chen Zhu mistakenly thinks the champagne rose is meant for someone else. Now, after their divorce, he seems to know the difference and is giving it to someone else.
In a fit of anger, Chen Zhu storms off, leaving Xu Chengzhou behind, trying to explain himself to no avail. They set a date for their divorce, and Xu Chengzhou watches Chen Zhu’s retreating figure, filled with sadness and helplessness.
Meanwhile, Evan and Qin Qin enjoy a warm and heartfelt date. Evan learns from Shen Xingruo about Qin Qin’s kindness and love for animals, so he arranges a pet store outing, encouraging her to be her true self without feeling inadequate for being shy. His words are like a gentle spring breeze, warming Qin Qin’s heart.
On the day they shoot promotional posters at school, Chen Zhu, wanting to avoid an awkward encounter with Xu Chengzhou, offers to help him prepare his school uniform. While searching, she accidentally reveals a notebook filled with Xu Chengzhou’s promises and affection over the years, particularly the sweet tradition of preparing ice cream cakes for her birthday every year.
Shen Xingruo and Qin Qin are deeply moved after reading it, believing Xu Chengzhou’s feelings for Chen Zhu are undeniable, and they urge her to reconsider her decision to divorce. Ultimately, during a break in the poster shoot, Chen Zhu gathers her courage to apologize to Xu Chengzhou and express her reluctance to part ways. They clear the air, embracing each other warmly, demonstrating the power of true love.
In that moment, all misunderstandings and barriers dissolve, leaving only two hearts tightly bound together.
