Episode 2 recap: Lu Xing Yan Invited as a Guest on the Show
Lu Xing Yan and Shen Xing Ruo come from families with a deep friendship that dates back generations. Interestingly, they were both born on the same day, though at different times—one at midnight and the other in the early morning—under a sky full of stars. This shared experience is reflected in their names, both containing the character for "star," symbolizing a profound connection.
This semester, Shen Xing Ruo is transferring schools, and Lu’s mother, feeling sympathetic, invites her to stay at their home. Coincidentally, she ends up in Lu Xing Yan's room. When Lu Xing Yan returns, he discovers that his "territory" has been taken over, leaving him a bit annoyed.
Meanwhile, Lu Xing Yan receives an invitation to be a guest on a show, while Shen Xing Ruo, as the producer, is unaware of this. It isn’t until her boss asks her to coordinate with the guest that she realizes it’s Lu Xing Yan. The production team hopes to capitalize on the popularity of their previous engagement video, especially since Mr. Yang's daughter, a loyal fan, strongly requested a reunion of the "Double Stars."
Faced with company challenges and pressure for repayment, Shen Xing Ruo decides to personally invite Lu Xing Yan, hoping to turn the show's fortunes around. However, their initial conversation as colleagues does not go as planned. Lu Xing Yan mistakenly believes Shen Xing Ruo is only reaching out for the sake of the show and feels she has moved on from their past, which leaves him feeling uneasy. He declines the invitation and expresses a desire to avoid discussing it further.
Shen Xing Ruo, feeling a mix of emotions, is particularly affected when she sees Lu Xing Yan in a seemingly intimate moment with Lawyer Zhai (which is actually a misunderstanding). That evening, she returns home to her shared apartment with Chen Zhu and Qin Qin, where she confides in them about her day.
She knows that Lu Xing Yan is the ideal choice for their show, and they will inevitably have to confront each other again. The next day, she visits Lu's home, where Lu's mother warmly welcomes her and intentionally asks Lu Xing Yan to drive her back. During the ride, Shen Xing Ruo accidentally spots a pair of female sneakers in the car, which stirs feelings of jealousy within her.
It isn’t until Lu Xing Yan catches up with her to put on those sneakers—ones she had left behind at his place—that she realizes he has kept them all along. Shen Xing Ruo makes another attempt to persuade Lu Xing Yan to participate in the show, but he feels disheartened, believing she is only contacting him for work.
At this point, Lu Xing Yan's friend Xu Cheng Zhou notices the tension. He understands that Lu Xing Yan still has deep feelings for Shen Xing Ruo, despite his facade of strength. Xu Cheng Zhou encourages Lu Xing Yan to give her a chance and discover her true feelings.
After some ups and downs, Lu Xing Yan finally realizes he still longs for a fresh start with Shen Xing Ruo. Likewise, through a series of misunderstandings and clarifications, Shen Xing Ruo begins to understand her own feelings and is willing to put in the effort for their shared future.
With the help of friends, the misunderstandings between them start to unravel, paving the way for a brighter future together.
