Episode 5 recap: Qin Qin Harassed by Her Ex-Husband
In Episode 5, Shen Xing Ruo sternly warns Li Qi that they are in a prestigious law firm, and there are surveillance cameras outside. If he dares to lay a hand on anyone, the consequences will be severe. Li Qi, feeling intimidated, leaves in a huff but is frustrated and plans to continue waiting for Qin Qin in Xing City.
Shen Xing Ruo and Chen Zhu have always been puzzled by Qin Qin's choice to be with Li Qi. They can't understand how she ended up with him. It turns out that Qin Qin felt she finally received attention while with Li Qi; she had always felt invisible growing up, and he acknowledged her existence.
Thinking she might never find someone as good as him again, Qin Qin rushed into marriage. However, she soon discovered that Li Qi had a darker side. Concerned for her safety, Shen Xing Ruo advises Qin Qin to contact her immediately if Li Qi harasses her, and Qin Qin agrees.
While tidying up her home, Qin Qin finds old study materials from high school and reminisces about her innocent time with He Si Yue. Both were shy and liked each other but never dared to express it. Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupts her thoughts, and she is shocked to see it’s Li Qi. She had inadvertently revealed her address while shopping online, and now he has shown up. Terrified, Qin Qin hesitates to open the door, but Li Qi unexpectedly climbs through the window and starts to go wild.
Seizing the moment, Qin Qin calls Shen Xing Ruo for help, but before she can say anything, her phone is snatched away. Luckily, Shen Xing Ruo senses something is wrong and decides to head home immediately. Lu Xing Yan offers to drive her, and coincidentally, Xu Cheng Zhou and He Si Yue are also with them. The group rushes to Qin Qin's house.
They arrive just in time to prevent a worse situation from unfolding. Shen Xing Ruo feels guilty for being late, but Qin Qin is grateful; it's the first time someone has stood up for her in danger. Lu Xing Yan intends to teach Li Qi a lesson, but Qin Qin stops him, giving Li Qi the chance to escape out the window.
For safety, Lu Xing Yan arranges for Qin Qin and Shen Xing Ruo to stay at a resort. He Si Yue wants to escort them to their room, but Shen Xing Ruo politely declines, knowing Qin Qin doesn’t want him to see her in such a vulnerable state. Shen Xing Ruo tends to Qin Qin’s injuries before heading home to pack her belongings.
Outside the resort, Shen Xing Ruo runs into He Si Yue, who asks if she really intends to let someone like Li Qi go free. Shen Xing Ruo firmly asserts that she will not. Meanwhile, Lu Xing Yan and the others have formulated a plan. They discovered that Li Qi has been recognized as an excellent employee at his company for three consecutive years, but the company has a zero-tolerance policy for criminal behavior.
They plan to use this to their advantage. If Li Qi continues to harass Qin Qin, they will report his misconduct to his company. Realizing he is in a precarious position, Li Qi tries to backtrack, but Qin Qin produces a medical report from their marriage that proves he has committed intentional harm. As a lawyer, she understands the legal procedures that follow. Shen Xing Ruo gives Li Qi two choices: either face prosecution or leave Qin Qin alone for good.
Ultimately, under the pressure of the group, Li Qi retreats in disgrace.
