Episode 1 recap: High-Level Public Relations and Patient Revenge
In the first episode, social media influencer Bao'er attempts to blackmail wealthy entrepreneur Jie Shao by secretly filming him. She sets up multiple cameras in the room and contacts a journalist, planning what appears to be a foolproof scheme. However, PR expert Yu Man Yue sees through Bao'er's plan in advance. Yu Man Yue knows all of Bao'er's secrets, including some of her unsavory past. Faced with Bao'er's threats, Yu Man Yue remains calm and uses Bao'er’s own dirt against her, easily extracting the password to the cloud video and quickly eliminating all evidence.
When Jie Shao realizes he has been set up, he angrily confronts Bao'er. Yu Man Yue, instead of taking advantage of the situation, provides Bao'er with makeup to cover her bruises, giving her a chance to walk away. Weighing her options, Bao'er ultimately chooses to take the money and leave without further entanglement.
After dealing with Bao'er, Yu Man Yue turns her attention back to her employer, Jie Shao. Despite Jie Shao's wealth, he is morally questionable, but Yu Man Yue understands her duty and the importance of professionalism. As a well-known PR expert, she presents a polished exterior while harboring a painful past—she and her family suffered greatly in this city, particularly due to the atrocities committed by Jiang Ji Jun, which completely altered her and her sister's lives, leaving her sister disabled.
This hatred becomes a lingering shadow in her heart and drives her quest for revenge. When Bao'er's company faces a public relations crisis, and Chairman Jiang Zhe Xian falls ill, causing the stock price to plummet, Yu Man Yue and her mentor, Ze Lun, are brought in to devise a response.
Yu Man Yue suggests bringing Jiang Ji Jun back to revitalize the company, but Ze Lun opposes this, citing Jiang Ji Jun's negative press. Ultimately, Jiang Zhe Xian accepts Ze Lun's proposal, calming the situation through a carefully orchestrated shareholders' meeting.
However, beneath the surface, tensions brew between Yu Man Yue and Cheng Feng, among others. Cheng Feng infiltrates the meeting disguised as an actor, intending to disrupt the shareholders' gathering, but all of this is under Yu Man Yue's control. While appearing to assist Cheng Feng, she is actually using him to create chaos as part of her larger strategy.
As a result, Ze Lun faces scrutiny, while Yu Man Yue’s quick thinking earns her Jiang Zhe Xian's trust, leading to her promotion to Client Director. With this advancement, Yu Man Yue also uncovers her mentor Hu Ze Lun's betrayal. She decisively reports the matter to higher-ups and successfully takes over Hu Ze Lun's position.
At the same time, she doesn't forget about helping those oppressed by Hu Ze Lun, like Le Yao, using clever tactics to free her from her predicament. In Yu Man Yue's revenge plan, bringing Jiang Ji Jun back is just the first step. She knows that to completely dismantle the Jiang family, she needs a more thorough strategy and a long-term vision.
Throughout this process, she must confront external enemies while battling her own fears and pain. Yet, no matter how difficult the path ahead may be, Yu Man Yue is resolute in her determination to make those who have harmed her and her family pay the price.
