Episode 13 recap: Vengeance Fulfilled

In Episode 13, Chen Xingfang takes the blame for the murder on behalf of Jiang Jijun. She informs her son that no recording pen was found among Jiang Zhexian's belongings. Meanwhile, Mo Jialang and Officer Luo lead a search of the Jiang residence but also fail to locate the pen. Yu Manyue returns to the area near the Jiang house and recalls that the last time she saw Jiang Zhexian was by a sewer. It’s likely that he threw the recording pen into the sewer.

After questioning Xu, the worker responsible for clearing the sewer, they learn he did find a pen, which has already been sent to the landfill. Manyue and Cheng Feng head to the landfill, where they successfully retrieve the recording pen from Xu's colleague. The recordings clearly capture the conversation between Jiang Zhexian and Jiang Jijun, providing evidence that Jiang Jijun murdered Jiang Zhexian.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Jijun goes on a reckless drive, crashing straight into Cheng Feng’s car, injuring him and lightly wounding Manyue. Seizing the opportunity, Jiang Jijun takes the recording pen and deletes all files while escaping in a taxi, laughing triumphantly.

Manyue tries to pursue him but faints and collapses, calling a passerby for help, and is taken to the hospital. The police chase after Jiang Jijun, but he escapes onto a bus heading for Macau. When Manyue wakes up, she tells Mo Jialang about the recording pen and learns Jiang Jijun has vanished on Guichang Street, prompting her to rush out to find him.

Su Bide is notified to pick up Cheng Feng from the hospital. Upon hearing that Manyue has gone to Guichang Street, Cheng Feng asks Su Bide to drive him there to persuade Manyue to return. Zhuo Huiyun, without consulting Zhuo Haotian, holds a memorial for Jiang Zhexian. Although Zhuo Haotian refrains from confronting her in front of the press, he scolds her privately later.

The police inform Zhuo Huiyun and Zhuo Haotian that two severed fingers were found on a tourist bus that exploded, and the fingerprints match those found in Jiang Jijun’s car, leading them to conclude that Jiang Jijun died in the explosion.

When news of Jiang Jijun's death breaks, Zhu Baizhong and Yu Xichen call Manyue to congratulate her. Cheng Feng visits her home directly but finds Manyue isn’t as happy as expected. Manyue realizes that the death of her enemy doesn’t bring her the joy she anticipated, and Cheng Feng reassures her that seeing justice served is what truly matters.

Manyue plans to resign without notice and recommends Yongshi to take her place, primarily wanting to take a break. Xiyuan agrees but tells her that if Manyue wants to find a job again in the future, she can contact her anytime.

Yu Manxing, Yu Manyue, and Yu Xichen, the three sisters, gather to prepare for their visit to the graves tomorrow. During the conversation, Yu Xichen accidentally lets it slip that Manyue has been planning her revenge. This revelation leaves Yu Manxing upset, realizing that Zhu Baizhong and their younger sister Yu Xichen knew about it while she had been kept in the dark. Angered, Yu Manxing leaves abruptly.

With a heavy heart, she finds herself distracted at work the next day, leading to Yu Manyue coming to find her. The sisters clear up their misunderstanding and reconcile, embracing each other in tears. Finally, the three sisters visit their parents' graves together, filling them with an unprecedented joy.

Yu Manyue expresses her gratitude to Cheng Feng, acknowledging that she wouldn’t have succeeded in her revenge so quickly without his help. Cheng Feng learns that Manyue is considering taking an extended break and moving back in with her sisters.

Manyue tears down the photos and documents from the glass, symbolizing the end of her quest for revenge. She can finally relax and give herself the time to rest that she needs.
