Episode 3 recap: A Difficult Path to Revenge
In Episode 3, the Jiang and Zhuo families gather for a meal, creating a seemingly harmonious atmosphere. However, Jiang Ji Jun's attitude towards Zhuo Hui Yun is quite poor. Despite this, Zhuo Hui Yun remains unfazed, acting as if nothing is wrong. During dinner, Jiang Zhe Xian mentions a major investment project in Brunei—an underwater bridge. He suggests that once the wedding date between Jiang Ji Jun and Zhuo Hui Yun is set, both families can travel together, and he could introduce some royal members to Zhuo Hao Tian.
Zhuo Hao Tian is thrilled and nods enthusiastically. Just then, an unexpected interruption occurs when a woman named Annie barges in, claiming to be a debt of affection Jiang Ji Jun acquired while in England. To complicate matters, she announces that she is pregnant with his child.
If it had been anyone else, this revelation would have caused chaos. However, Zhuo Hui Yun graciously offers to support Jiang Ji Jun in taking on the responsibilities of fatherhood. Seeing that her tactic fails, Annie storms out in frustration.
Meanwhile, Kuang Wen Hai calls Yu Man Yue to inform her that they can officially announce the engagement between the Jiang and Zhuo families. Yu Man Yue swiftly instructs her assistant to send out the prepared press release. Zhuo Hui Yun is overjoyed to hear that her grandfather, Huo Jian Kun, has finally approved the marriage, and she personally makes him a cup of ginseng tea. However, the relationship between the grandfather and granddaughter is quite complicated; when Huo Jian Kun is present, Zhuo Hao Tian treats Zhuo Hui Yun warmly, but as soon as he leaves, he shifts to a stern demeanor, warning her to behave and not embarrass him.
Huo Jian Kun privately tells Jiang Zhe Xian to ensure that nothing goes wrong at the wedding. Meanwhile, Jiang’s mother has some history with Annie's mother, Rose Xu, and initially considers reaching out to her to resolve the matter with Annie. However, Jiang Zhe Xian has already taken control of the situation and does not involve his wife.
On Annie's side, her father, Xu Zhao Lin, pressures her to either raise money to return to England for an abortion or give birth in Hong Kong, claiming that Jiang Zhe Xian has bankrupted him. Just as Annie is being forcibly taken to the airport, Yu Man Yue intervenes. She intentionally drives her car into the middle of the road, distracting Annie's guards, allowing Annie to escape and jump into Zhu Bai Zhong's car.
Zhu Bai Zhong brought Annie to the press conference, hoping she would spill some juicy gossip. However, as soon as the journalists received news about the event, they all fled as if it were a plague.
Yu Man Yue learned from her journalist friend, Le Yao, that all the reporters had been notified not to cover the event. She was taken aback; clearly, someone powerful was behind the decision to silence the media.
Meanwhile, Zhuo Shi Qi, Zhuo Hao Tian's nephew, felt increasingly unsatisfied with his uncle's dominant position in the group. With the upcoming marriage between the Zhuo and Jiang families, he now had a formidable rival, which only added to his frustration. Fortunately, he held some influence at Pinnacle Group, and his friends Cheng Feng and Su Bi De advised him not to let it get to him.
Cheng Feng even ran into Yu Man Yue at the laundry room, and they exchanged a few words. Yu Man Yue tried to extract information from Cheng Feng, but he was not easily manipulated and thwarted her attempts. Kuang Wen Hai had already grown suspicious of Yu Man Yue, believing her intentions towards Jiang Ji Jun were not pure, and he sent people to investigate her.
Yu Man Yue also had her own troubles; her sister Yu Man Xing had gotten into trouble for fighting, and Yu Man Yue had to pay a $10,000 bail to get her out. However, the sisters' relationship was strained, as they often quarreled.
Despite the chaos at home and outside, Yu Man Yue dedicated herself to planning the wedding between the Jiang and Zhuo families. She realized that Zhuo Shi Qi could actually be of help, so she informed Zhu Bai Zhong. During the preparations, Yu Man Yue unexpectedly encountered a familiar face—the very person who had once tried to push her and Yu Xi Chen down a slope! This discovery heightened her wariness and determination.
