Episode 8 recap: Father and Son Turn Against Each Other at the Dock
In Episode 8, to avoid causing trouble for Yu Man Yue, Yu Xi Chen decides to practice walking with a walker. Early one morning, her aunt is both surprised and proud of her efforts. Meanwhile, Yu Man Yue is helping Zhuo Hui Yun pick out clothes when she discovers numerous needle marks on Zhuo Hui Yun's abdomen in the fitting room.
These marks are left from fertility treatments, as Zhuo Hui Yun is desperately trying to conceive Jiang Ji Jun's child at any cost. When Yu Xi Chen experiences a panic attack and becomes frantic, her aunt cannot reach Yu Man Yue and urgently contacts Zhu Bai Zhong for help.
Zhu Bai Zhong arrives quickly and gently reassures Yu Xi Chen, staying until she falls asleep before quietly leaving. Yu Man Yue then takes over caring for Yu Xi Chen, while Zhu Bai Zhong continues his job as a driver, taking Jiang Ji Jun and Zu Na to a hotel. In the car, the tension between Jiang Ji Jun and Zu Na is palpable, intensifying as they arrive at the hotel.
While checking in, Zhu Bai Zhong unexpectedly sees Zhuo Hui Yun entering the same hotel and begins to speculate about her intentions. However, Zhuo Hui Yun is not there to catch anyone cheating; she is conspiring with Kuang Yong Yuan in a nearby room.
She has hired Kuang Yong Yuan to entice Jiang Ji Jun with money, aiming to obtain his sperm in return for a generous payment. Sensing something suspicious, Zhu Bai Zhong decides to investigate discreetly. He creates a small accident to confront Kuang Yong Yuan and takes the opportunity to grab a bag filled with cash that Kuang Yong Yuan leaves behind.
Meanwhile, after picking up Yu Xi Chen from her baking class, Yu Man Yue coincidentally runs into Cheng Feng on the same floor while he's buying fish tank supplies. Back at home, while Yu Xi Chen is taking photos in the kitchen, she encounters her former nightmare—Kuang Yong Yuan.
He attempts to control her, but at a critical moment, Yu Man Yue rushes into the kitchen and calmly confronts Kuang Yong Yuan. A store employee calls for help, and Cheng Feng sneaks in through the back door. Together, they manage to subdue Kuang Yong Yuan. Yu Man Yue cleverly uses flour to create a small explosion, successfully scaring him off.
The police and fire department arrive swiftly, confirming that Yu Xi Chen is unharmed. Yu Man Yue immediately contacts tech expert Yong Shi to hack into Kuang Wen Hai's phone and track Kuang Yong Yuan's movements. Based on the information provided by Yong Shi, Zhu Bai Zhong follows Kuang Wen Hai to a pharmacy and uncovers his escape plan.
Yu Man Yue meets up with Zhu Bai Zhong, and they decide to settle their grievances privately, vowing to make Kuang Wen Hai pay for his past misdeeds. Meanwhile, Kuang Wen Hai is ambushed while withdrawing cash but narrowly escapes. Misunderstanding his father’s actions as betrayal, Kuang Yong Yuan rushes to the dock to seize the money. During a struggle, he accidentally slashes his father's neck, causing a gushing wound.
In a panic, Kuang Yong Yuan flees with the money. Yu Man Yue arrives at the scene and looks down at the critically injured Kuang Wen Hai, feeling a complex mix of revenge and emotions. She realizes that this moment is both a release from past pain and a warning for the future.
As everything quietly concludes in the night, it leaves everyone with endless thoughts.
