Episode 10 recap: The Little Daughter Finally Reaps What She Sowed
In Episode 10, after Cheng Lang wraps up his business at the Luo residence, he prepares to take his leave. The Luo family decides to host a farewell banquet to express their gratitude. Upon hearing the news that a charred body has been discovered at the One Mind Studio, Luo Yi Ning instinctively suspects that it’s connected to Luo Shen Yuan. Early in the morning, she pays her respects to her grandmother and heads straight to Luo Shen Yuan's place to get to the bottom of things.
When confronted by Luo Yi Ning, Luo Shen Yuan openly admits to committing arson the previous night, but insists it was for the long-term benefit of the Luo family. He hopes that Luo Yi Ning will remain uninvolved and unaware. After hearing this, Luo Yi Ning chooses to trust him and does not press further.
Meanwhile, Luo Yi Ning embarks on a secret mission to uncover the mystery behind her mother's past miscarriage. She discreetly invites the doctor who treated her mother back then and arranges for him to stay at a tavern. After some questioning, she confirms that the doctor is willing to testify, and she ensures he is safely settled. However, as soon as the doctor arrives in town, he is targeted by Qiao Yue Chan's (the little daughter) subordinates, who begin to follow him closely.
Luo Shen Yuan witnesses this from the tavern’s upper level and immediately sends someone to alert Luo Yi Ning to stay vigilant. Learning that Luo Yi Ning is investigating the past, Qiao Yue Chan decides to take preemptive action and frame her. She takes advantage of the opportunity presented by the farewell for Cheng Lang, bribing a performer to secretly deliver a belt embroidered with orchids, and manages to knock Luo Yi Ning unconscious, locking her in a room.
At the same time, as Luo Cheng Zhang and the elderly matriarch head to the banquet, a maid arranged by Qiao Yue Chan acts suspiciously, catching Luo Cheng Zhang's attention. When he hears the maid claim that Luo Yi Ning is alone with a man, he storms in, furious.
What he sees is chaotic: the performer is disheveled and calling out Luo Yi Ning's name, but it’s Luo Shen Yuan who steps out. Luo Yi Ning quickly reacts, questioning the performer for any proof of their long-standing acquaintance. The performer presents the orchid-embroidered belt as evidence.
Faced with this testimony, Luo Cheng Zhang is furious and wants to punish Luo Yi Ning. However, Luo Yi Ning calmly points out that the belt isn’t hers but belongs to Qiao Yue Chan, as the number of leaves on the orchids differs from her mother’s belt. After inspecting it closely, Luo Cheng Zhang discovers that the belt has seven leaves, confirming it indeed belongs to Qiao Yue Chan.
When Qiao Yue Chan realizes her deceit has been exposed, she tries to argue, but Luo Yi Ning has already laid out an intricate trap. She presents evidence that links Qiao Yue Chan's miscarriage to her own actions, along with multiple witnesses, including Li Mama and Zhang Wu Ye, who testify to Qiao Yue Chan's long history of scheming against Luo Yi Ning.
Confronted with irrefutable evidence, Luo Cheng Zhang finally sees Qiao Yue Chan for who she truly is. Her outwardly weak and self-sacrificing demeanor cannot hide the treachery and malice beneath. Despite Qiao Yue Chan’s tearful claims of her contributions to the Luo family, it’s too late to win back Luo Cheng Zhang’s heart. This upheaval not only brings the internal conflicts of the Luo family to light but also prompts Luo Cheng Zhang to reflect deeply on his family and marriage.
