Episode 11 recap: Luo Shen Yuan Helps Luo Yi Ning with Her Fever

In episode 11, Grandma Luo asks Luo Cheng Zhang to make a decision in front of their ancestors. He announces a punishment for Qiao Yue Chan: fifty lashes and a sentence to work in the fields.Recently, Luo Shen Yuan has not been well. He was injured at Yuanjing Pavilion and then got into a fight with thugs at Yixin Pavilion, exacerbating his old wounds and putting his health in jeopardy.

Fortunately, Lin Mao, skilled in medicine, was discreetly summoned by Luo Shen Yuan's subordinates. Using his specially formulated healing ointment, Lin Mao gradually helped Luo Shen Yuan recover.

Although Luo Yi Ning managed to defeat her rival this time, she also put herself in a precarious situation. Grandma punished her to reflect in the ancestral hall and asked if she recognized her mistakes. Initially, her rival tried to argue her way out and even attempted to discredit Luo Yi Ning’s evidence. However, Luo Yi Ning had prepared for this and ultimately turned the situation in her favor. Despite the numerous challenges she faced, Luo Yi Ning expressed that she had no regrets.

After Grandma left, Luo Shen Yuan came to the ancestral hall to visit Luo Yi Ning. Though pale, she insisted on clearing her mother's name, stating that she would not yield even if given the chance to choose again. Luo Shen Yuan admired her determination, but just as he was about to leave, he heard the sound of her collapsing. He touched her forehead and found it burning hot, immediately carrying her back inside.

When Grandma learned of this, she quickly arrived and ordered someone to fetch the best doctor in town. Luo Shen Yuan wanted to leave but was tightly held back by Luo Yi Ning’s grasp on his clothing, creating an awkward moment. Seeing this, Grandma instructed Luo Shen Yuan to go home first.

The doctor diagnosed Luo Yi Ning with a cold and advised her to cover up with more blankets. However, Luo Shen Yuan remembered Dr. Du's advice that, given Luo Yi Ning's already weak condition, piling on more blankets would do more harm than good, preventing her from sweating out the fever. He insisted on reducing the blankets and assured Grandma that he would accept punishment if Luo Yi Ning's fever did not subside.

After a night of careful tending by Luo Shen Yuan, Luo Yi Ning's fever finally subsided, and her condition improved.

Meanwhile, when Cheng Lang returned to report to his uncle, Lu Jia Xue, he mentioned that the seventh daughter of the Luo family was highly skilled in paper-cutting, but he wasn’t sure if she was the “Mei Mei” his uncle had been searching for. Lu Jia Xue took a keen interest and decided he wanted to meet this young woman personally.

After Qiao Yue Chan was sent to work in the fields, Lin Hai Ru went to her former residence to check the accounts. The servants moved out a large quantity of gold, silver, jewelry, and property deeds. Given Qiao Yue Chan's humble origins, the source of these items raised suspicions.

Lin Hai Ru further examined the account books and discovered that Qiao Yue Chan had sold off all of Luo Yi Ning's mother's jewelry and kept the proceeds for herself.

While Lin Mao was preparing medicine for Luo Shen Yuan's injuries, he also couldn’t resist Luo Shen Yuan’s request to make a health soup for Luo Yi Ning. Luo Shen Yuan paid the full amount for the medicine but asked Lin Mao to keep it a secret. When Lin Mao delivered the medicine to Luo Yi Ning, he noticed her maid bringing in a bowl of Astragalus and Peony soup. Luo Yi Ning didn’t like the taste of this medicinal soup, so Lin Mao discreetly poured it into a nearby potted plant, telling her it would be beneficial for plant growth.

The next day, during a meal with her grandmother, Lin Hai Ru again had someone bring in the Astragalus and Peony soup, hoping it would help Luo Yi Ning regain her strength. Playfully, Luo Yi Ning poured the soup into the potted plant, which reminded her grandmother of how her own mother had disliked such medicinal soups in her youth and would often pour them out secretly.

Grandma mentioned that her mother had once poured the soup into a begonia, and soon after, that plant had died. Luo Yi Ning was surprised to hear this because Lin Mao had said the soup was mild and wouldn’t harm plants. She began to wonder why her own begonia had withered as a result.
